The news about Samsung's plans to mass-produce solid-state batteries next year sparked the interest in many of you. The article even got attention from a board member of the biggest US silicon-carbon battery company, Group14 Technologies.

But there was another aspect of that article that I think is important to focus on. The poll inside yielded some very interesting results. We asked you whether you would pay more for a three-day battery smartphone, and here are the results.

People would love to get a three-day battery smartphone

More than 800 people have voted in the poll since it was posted, and quite a big chunk (almost 38%) say they would pay more for the luxury of having a multi-day battery life smartphone.

A similar amount of votes (around 36%) goes to the second option, where people want to know how much this phone would cost.

Some of you want to see the phone first (around 16% of the voters), but overall, the sentiment toward this potential longevity champion is overwhelmingly positive.

Only around 9 percent of you guys voted that you don't need such a long battery life, as you charge every day habitually.

Long battery life is still one of the most requested smartphone feature

To my personal surprise, people still want days of battery life on their smartphones. I thought the industry succeeded in brainwashing us to think that one day on a single charge is something normal.

It seems even if people are most often charging their phones every night, they still need the safety cushion of a larger battery.

And I can understand this. My current daily driver sports a 7,500 mAh battery, and it can safely last two full days. In my case, it was a necessity, as I "hotspot" my internet so my phone acts as a Wi-Fi router most of the time.

But there's another question I want to ask all of you.

Longer battery life Samsung or Apple versus super-fast charging AND big battery Chinese phone

Battery life vs fast charging?

The longstanding debate about battery life versus fast charging is still valid. Especially when some phones can now charge in half an hour. Maybe not your regular Galaxy phones and iPhones, but even in the US, you can get Motorola and OnePlus models with insanely fast charging.

Of course, we want both fast charging and big boy batteries, but let's pose the question like this: Would you rather have an iPhone or a Galaxy phone with longer battery life, or a Chinese phone with super-fast charging AND a large battery? Because that's the state of the smartphone market right now.
