Samsung's first One UI 8.5 beta update doesn't include the Dual Recording and Single Take camera modes that have been part of Samsung smartphones for quite some time.
Is Samsung planning to remove these features, or does it have something else in mind?
Samsung began the One UI 8.5 beta program on December 8 for the Galaxy S25 series. You can join it through the Samsung Members app; however, I don't recommend doing so if you regularly use Dual Recording and Single Take camera modes, as both features are missing in the current beta build.
In the latest One UI beta, you won't find these two camera modes under the More section of the Camera app. For reference, the Dual Recording mode allows you to capture videos from two different cameras on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone simultaneously. This feature is especially useful for vloggers or anyone who wants to record their reaction using the front camera while capturing the main scene with the rear camera.
The Single Take mode, on the other hand, captures a variety of photos and videos, such as GIFs, filtered photos, collages, and boomerang-style clips, within just a few seconds. Considering the importance and usability of these features, it seems very unlikely that Samsung will remove them from its smartphones.

I guess the Galaxy makers might be working on something that combines the functionality of both modes. Alternatively, there could be a bug causing these camera modes to be unavailable in the latest One UI beta build, as bugs are quite common in beta releases. Either way, I'm hopeful that Samsung will bring back these modes in the upcoming beta update or in the One UI 8.5 stable release.

A big update for Samsung smartphones

If you don't often use the Dual Recording or Single Take camera modes, you can definitely install the One UI 8.5 beta update, as it brings some exciting new features. Theft Protection, Photo Assist, Quick Share, and Audio Broadcast are among the latest additions you'll find in the new One UI update.
But the feature I'm really excited to use is Storage Share, which is essentially Samsung's direct answer to Apple's continuity feature that makes it very easy to manage and move files between different Apple devices. Storage Share works similarly, allowing you to manage files between different Samsung devices logged in with the same account.
All that said, the One UI 8.5 beta is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, which includes the standard Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. The update is currently in its Phase 1 rollout, meaning it's available only in Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the US. Phase 2 countries, including India and Poland, will receive the beta update in the coming days. The stable version of the One UI 8.5 update will be released officially alongside the Galaxy S26 series next year.
