Motorola unveiled its new Motorola Signature 27 smartphone today during the Snapdragon Summit. Also unveiled today was the chipset that powers the device, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform. While other phones will be powered by this chipset, the Signature 27 is the first to be officially introduced with Qualcomm's new processor.

Motorola says that the Signature 27 is the most advanced smartphone it has ever made

I’ve personally owned several of Motorola’s most iconic smartphones, including the Motorola DROID. I also drooled and turned green with envy when someone I knew bought the DROID X. I mention this because the Lenovo unit calls this device the most advanced smartphone the company has ever made.

These days, a smartphone has to offer on-device AI to give consumers what they want and need. The Motorola Signature 27 delivers this and more. I’ve used Gemini as my personal AI assistant on my Pixel 6 Pro, and you’ll have the same opportunity with this phone. As a personal AI assistant, Gemini goes beyond simply answering your queries and will take action.

The Gemini personal AI assistant will help you plan an outing, book a dinner reservation, or help you find tickets to an event you want to see. Gemini now integrates with more of the apps and services that smartphone users employ.

With Gemini Omni, a prompt, photos, or an existing video can be transformed with AI magic to become a polished video. With Gemini Lyria, users will be able to compose and create original music.

Motorola says that the Signature 27 features a 50MP main camera backed by a Sony LYTIA sensor for images that show rich color, exceptional clarity, and deep contrast. The device is also equipped with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera for long-distance photography of landscapes, architecture, and other subjects that you normally would not be able to capture with such detail.

Motorola’s Video Enhancement Engine analyzes scenes using AI to adjust color tones. This feature will allow users to capture true-to-life colors. The combination of AI, cinematic video, and top hardware allows Signature 27 users to produce what Motorola calls "professional-grade results."

The Signature 27 features audio by B&O, a first for Motorola

Thanks to Motorola’s partnership with Bang & Olufsen, the Signature 27 will be the first Motorola phone to feature Audio by B&O. Motorola seems to have an exclusive deal with B&O, because it said that the Signature 27 will be the only phone to use B&O sound. There's probably an expiry date to this exclusivity deal, but at this point, it's not clear what it is.

The Motorola Signature 27 might look hot externally, but it won't be too hot inside thanks to Motorola's ArcticMesh cooling system. This combines a diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a redesigned 3D vapor chamber (40% larger) to keep things cool when the processor is tasked with some heavy duty tasks that normally heat up a phone's chipset such as gaming, long AI sessions, and watching hours of streaming videos.

The Motorola Signature 27 will receive 7 OS updates and up to 7 years of security updates. This will start from the global launch date.

The device, coming to markets worldwide later this year, will be offered in two finishes:

PANTONE Coal Smoke in Tactical Weave.
PANTONE Capulet Green in a brushed textile-inspired finish.

Motorola says that it will share more information about the Signature 27 as it gets closer to availability. For now, the unique design of the phone and its capabilities could make it one of the most coveted Motorola handsets in years.
