Depending on how much you’re looking to spend on an Apple Watch alternative with both Android and iOS compatibility, you can pick up a $200 Mobvoi or Fitbit Versa, a $330 Samsung Galaxy Watch, $450 LG, $1,000 Montblanc, or $3,000 Louis Vuitton.

The 2017-released Tambour Horizon must have somehow found an audience at that absurdly high price, spawning a sequel that Louis Vuitton plans to commercially roll out in the near future.

We don’t know a great deal about the refreshed luxury smartwatch, but according to Engadget, the biggest internal upgrade will be the addition of a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor. Unveiled back in September with a major focus on battery life, the Qualcomm chip that replaces 2016’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 is still not a guaranteed feature for new Wear OS releases.

While the Montblanc Summit 2 and Fossil Sport are both powered by the energy-efficient new SoC, the LG Watch W7 and Mobvoi TicWatch C2 still come with the power-hungry oldie under their hood.

Then again, given how much the second-generation Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon is likely to cost, a Snapdragon Wear 3100 upgrade is the least it could offer. That and an “improved” screen boasting “better definition than the previous version.” 

As you can tell, the technical details and specifications are awfully vague, and there are no words on pricing or a firm release date either. That’s probably because Louis Vuitton’s affluent clientele doesn’t care that much about that stuff, focusing largely on the brand and the extravagant design going with it. 

This time, said design includes a 24-hour ring with a day/night indicator across the rim, which stays visible in ambient mode, as well as a sleek white ceramic version. But is that worth well over $2,000? We think not, but we’re not exactly the target audience here.
