It's hard not to at least consider that possibility for the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5, which originally went on sale in the US at an absurdly high price of $849.99 just a little over a month ago only for its manufacturer's Black Friday in June event to give you the opportunity to save as much as 200 bucks already.
Technically, the gaming-centric 8.8-inch powerhouse is listed at $699.99 at the time of this writing on its maker's official US website, but if you hurry, you can knock an additional $50 off that price with the promo codes "BUYMORELENOVO" and "EXTRAFIVE." And yes, the two codes can be used together for the same purchase of a single device, at least for the time being.
Now, let's imagine the Legion Tab Gen 5 was released last month at a recommended price of $649.99. Would you have been blown away? Probably not, as that's how much something like Apple's 11-inch iPad Air (M4) currently costs on Amazon in a 256GB storage variant.
But because the Legion Tab Gen 5's price is reduced by $200, you're probably more inclined to take advantage of this undoubtedly limited-time promotion and snub the iPad Air (2026) duo, as well as the likes of Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 FE, Tab S10 FE Plus, and Tab S11.
Do I recommend pulling the trigger here at 650 bucks? Actually, I do, as long as you're aware of the strengths and weaknesses of this unusually powerful 8.8-incher, starting with that relatively small screen (which can be viewed as either an advantage or disadvantage depending on your size preferences) and a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor that's unrivaled in today's Android tablet landscape.
The 9,000mAh battery equipped with blazing fast 68W charging is also impossible to beat (at least as far as sub-10-inch slates are concerned), and because you're dealing with a gaming-focused device, the cooling technology is also like nothing else available today. Oh, and you get two USB-C ports for an extra touch of versatility and convenience as well. And 12GB RAM paired with 256GB internal storage space. And a super-smooth 165Hz refresh rate-capable screen. You know what, I think I might have convinced myself to give the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 a try.
