According to previous reports, the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is going to see improvements to its wired and wireless charging speeds. Samsung is apparently releasing a new wireless charging pad for its upcoming flagship phones, and the specifications of this charger basically confirm the upgrades.

The Galaxy S26 base model and the Galaxy S26 Plus are expected to feature 20W wireless charging, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra is reportedly going to support 25W wireless charging speeds. This new charger’s box confirms that Samsung is expecting 25W charging speeds for at least one upcoming flagship entry.

In addition, the charger will also be compatible with previous Samsung phones, which have been marketed as Qi2 Ready. Unfortunately, the instructions on the box make it seem like the Galaxy S26 phones will still require a phone case for the magnetic snapping functionality. If that is the case, then Samsung phones will still not support a feature that Apple phones have had since the iPhone 12 days.

Of course, charging speeds for the Galaxy S25 series will not magically improve with the new charger, and those phones will still be limited to 15W charging. Nevertheless, according to the instructions on the box, Samsung is recommending an official 45W power adapter for the charger to provide proper 25W wireless charging.

The charger itself is just your standard wireless charging pad with a USB-C cable and the circular platform itself with the Samsung logo.

Steps in the right direction

Personally, I’m just stoked to see improvements to batteries on Samsung phones, even if we’re not actually getting an increase in capacity. Compared to even budget smartphones from other phone makers, Samsung and Apple are falling woefully behind. Adopting silicon-carbon batteries for even just their flagships would be a very welcome change.

For now, improved charging speeds — and the slightly bigger batteries for the iPhone 17 series — are much appreciated steps in the right direction. This means that both companies are finally beginning to focus on batteries in addition to cameras and the never-ending race for the slimmest phone.
