When it comes to headphones, Sony is one of the most popular brands out there, and for a good reason. The latest leak suggests that the Japanese company is gearing up to release two new models to accompany the flagship WH-1000XM6, and it's good news for everybody.

Sony gearing up to launch the WH-CH730N and WH-CH530

The guys at The Walkman Blog have discovered very interesting import filings from the Philippines and Vietnam, describing two new headphones with model numbers YY3006 and YY3005, respectively.

The documents also contain the market names of both models, leaving nothing to chance. We're talking about the WH-CH730N and WH-CH530 headphones.

These two are successors to the popular WH-CH720N and WH-CH520. The former is a midrange offering launched at around $179.99 (around $129.99 on a deal), while the latter is a budget model starting at $69.99.

WH-CH730N and WH-CH530 color options

These leaked import documents also contain unique color codes that Sony uses for its existing headphones range. Based on that, we know that the WH-CH730N will be available in the following colors:
  • Black (B)
  • White (W)
  • Pink (P)
  • Blue (L)
  • Beige (C)

The same goes for the budget WH-CH530. This model won't be getting a cool Beige hue, but it appears it will add an even cooler Ming Green color to the mix. Here are all the expected WH-CH530 colors:
  • Black
  • White
  • Pink
  • Red
  • Mint Green

Price and launch date?

These two are still under wraps, as the documents didn't reveal anything about a potential release date or the price of both models.

I expect Sony to unveil both the WH-CH730N and WH-CH530 at once, probably sometime around the IFA 2026 expo, which starts on September 4th.

As for the price, I don't expect a huge bump, as headphones are not as susceptible to the latest chip crisis as smartphones and other more complicated electronics.

If Sony manages to keep the price tags the same as the ones on the previous models, these new headphones might sell like hotcakes.

I'd choose midrange Sony headphones over any Beats

This is my personal opinion here, but if I had to choose between the WH-CH730N and any Beats model, I'd go for the Sony headphones any day of the week. Here's why.

Let's take the WH-CH720N. It's an ANC over-the-ear headphone that features most of the bells and whistles of the big brother, the XM model, at a fraction of the price.

These headphones sound good, they're lightweight and comfortable, and their battery lasts for days. Our colleagues at Soundguys prize this model as Sony's sweet spot, and What Hi-Fi even gave the model a 2025 award. Getting a successor is amazing.

The same goes for the WH-CH530. The previous model was hugely successful as travel headphones, offering amazing portability and good sound for not a lot of money. I can't wait to see what new features these two models will bring.
