Google may be resurrecting the mobile device it axed a year ago

Per a new report, Google is in the process of enlisting engineers and they could work on future Pixel tablets.

The original Pixel Tablet was discontinued and joined the "Google graveyard", full of the Big G's self-cancelled services and gadgets (there are so many discontinued projects that there are websites that track them and nothing else).

Precisely a year ago, we reported that the Pixel Tablet is dead.

Now, Google's job listings include text that says that potential developers could work "across Pixel phones, tablets, and accessories" and "current and upcoming Pixel phones and tablets".

What's more, another job listing (that has to do with the company's display department) also says that the role includes coming up with "next-generation display solutions across phones, foldables, and tablets".

Pixel tablet or not?

The OG Pixel Tablet (which arrived in 2023) wasn't a particularly big hit and it never took off in terms of sales and popularity. There were scarce rumors about a potential Google Pixel Tablet 2 for 2025, but that never happened. Some said there was going to be a Pixel Tablet 3 (probably in 2027), but these rumors are mostly refuted by now.

OK, but what about Google's job listings, then? These aren't solid proof that the Pixel Tablet is being resurrected, at least not in my book. Perhaps Google is working on some sort of tablet, but this one could carry a different title than Pixel, for example.

Or another foldable?

Google could be working on a tablet, sure, but the references to phones and tablets also leave room for something a little more ambitious. Could the company be exploring a wider foldable? Apple has joined the party, while Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei have already experimented with wider, more tablet-like folding designs. If Google is hiring specifically around next-generation displays for all these categories, I wouldn't rule out a Pixel Fold that opens into a wider tablet-like screen. Or
