The best iPhones are getting an even better browsing experience soon. With iOS 27.3, Apple will introduce major upgrades to Safari. The best part? These changes will extend to other iPads and Macs running iPadOS 27.3 and macOS 27.3 as well.
Say hello to Vertical Tabs

Apple is about to announce Vertical Tabs in Safari with iOS 27.3, which can be used instead of the standard horizontal bar. The new feature keeps things organized nearly and supports Topics as well as Tab Groups.
But the changes don't end here. Apple also adds a dark mode option to webpages that don't have it by default; with Safari, you can "try" adaptive dark mode while browsing.
If you tap Try, Safari will render a dark version of the specific page, making the background darker and adjusting the contrast, while also inverting logos and graphics. In case the webpage you're visiting already has a dark mode, the "Try" Adaptive Dark Mode option won't pop up.
Mind you, Apple isn't pioneering dark mode on webpages. In fact, One UI has a similar feature, allowing Samsung phone owners to view compatible webpages in dark mode. However, Apple's approach is slightly more personalized, as it allows users to use Adaptive Dark Mode on a site-by-site basis or apply it on all webpages in Safari.

Smarter Siri on top of everything else

Vertical tabs and adaptive dark mode aside, Apple is bringing new AI features to Siri. Siri will be able to move, sort, close, or arrange tabs and windows, combining them in different tab groups.
The AI assistant also gets access to your web history, making it more intuitive to clear your browser history. For instance, you can ask Siri to clear your browser history for a specific webpage over the last 14 days.
Soon, Siri will also be able to understand the full content of webpages, including content that's not in view. For instance, if you're shopping for a new pair of boots, Siri will be able to look through your tabs and compare prices across different websites. Think of it as Siri becoming more aware of what you're browsing.
Apple is rolling out these new features for developers starting November 3, 2026, while iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, and macOS Golden Gate 27.3 should land in December after several beta versions. The more 'aware Siri' won't launch in the first iOS 27.3 beta patch.
Siri all the way
To me, the most interesting part of these upcoming features is Siri becoming more aware of your browsing experience. I'm particularly curious to see how well it handles all these new capabilities.
But to be honest, I'm also a bit concerned about how long users in Europe and other regions will have to wait before they can these new Apple features firsthand.
