Buying advanced workstations through Amazon may be a lot harder than you think.

Buying AI workstations through Amazon may be becoming much harder. The e-commerce giant has reportedly been canceling orders for high-end AI systems, and the problem may actually go beyond a few frustrated customers.

Amazon might be canceling customer orders without warning

AI creator Nick Saraev recently took to X to voice his frustrations with Amazon after trying to order four DGX Spark PCs through Amazon.

As the above screenshot shows, the user placed separate orders on October 31, and by the looks of it, those were canceled soon after, with Saraev not getting charged for them. Not only that, but the e-commerce giant then closed Saraev's account, reportedly without offering any explanation.

Although this doesn't conclusively prove it's becoming more challenging to obtain high-end AI hardware for your projects, the problems reportedly expand beyond what Saraev went through.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney claims to have had a similar frustrating experience when trying to order two NVIDIA GPUs. Although Amazon didn't terminate Sweeney's account, it supposedly continued to accept orders and cancel them just prior to their arrival dates.

Some customers face this issue

And then there are those who managed to order DGX Spark hardware, only to encounter another concerning issue. Over at Reddit, for instance, user Ok-Wheel128 complained about reportedly receiving a Chinese version of the MSI EdgeXpert through Amazon.

Supposedly, the workstation stopped working after just three months. When the user contacted MSI to arrange a return and provided the device's serial number, the company reportedly said the warranty wasn't valid because the unit was Chinese.

The Redditor was eventually able to get a refund, but only after arguing with Amazon for hours.

Is Amazon making it deliberately challenging for you to buy AI hardware?

While those are very different reports, the common denominator seems to be Amazon. And although I wouldn't automatically assume the e-commerce giant is making it challenging for users to get these expensive AI workstations, it definitely raises some fair concerns.

We're not talking about cheap everyday gadgets that customers can easily replace here. These are specialized AI systems that developers and enthusiasts may be relying on for work, making canceled orders and warranty complications much more concerning and frustrating.
