The Motorola Moto Z4 is already available on Amazon: price, specs, features

The first three generations of Motorola's Moto Z Play lineup weren't as successful as the company's budget Moto G series but they did still perform relatively well. Because of this, the Chicago-based brand has developed a fourth model for release this year, under the name of Motorola Moto Z4. But despite not being announced yet, the smartphone can already be purchased on Amazon (viaAndroid Authority) and has actually begun shipping.
A decent Qualcomm processor and lots of storage
According to one Reddit user who already purchased and received the smartphone, Moto Mods introduce a "sharp overlay" due to the shape of the Moto Z4's frame. This can be viewed in the video below.
Moving away from the internal side of things and over to the external details, the Moto Z4 arrives equipped with a large 6.4-inch OLED FullVision display that sports a 2340 x 1080p resolution and is paired with a small notch, a reduced chin, razor-thin side bezels, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The listing doesn't specifically mention the variety of the latter, but considering the smartphone's mid-range positioning, an optical scanner seems extremely likely.
Aside from the details mentioned above, compatibility with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint's 4G LTE networks is to be expected and, thanks to the dedicated 5G Moto Mod, the phone can also be used on 5G networks. As for water and dust resistance, there appears to be no official rating.
A big display and high-resolution cameras
As per usual, the notch sits directly below the in-ear speaker and is home to the front-facing selfie snapper which sports a 25-megapixel resolution. Regarding the rear camera, this offers a 48-megapixel resolution but defaults to 12-megapixel images thanks to Quad Pixel technology, something that combines four pixels into one in the hope of creating a superior image. Motorola has previously used this sensor on the One Vision which we reviewed earlier this month and could use it on the upcoming One Action and unnamed quadruple-camera phone.
Motorola Moto Z4 price and release date
The Motorola Moto Z4 currently retails at $499.99 on Amazon, a pretty high price when you consider everything the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have to offer at their respective price points of $399 and $479. It's unclear at this point if it'll be made available to purchase through carriers in the US, but Motorola will presumably announce these details whenever it chooses to formally introduce the Moto Z4.
Motorola will probably deactivate the Amazon listings pretty soon, but as things stand the smartphone can be bought in two versions. One model is an Amazon exclusive that ships immediately and includes multiple pre-installed apps such as Alexa, while another bundles a Moto 360 Camera Mod for free, although this variant doesn't ship for another "1 to 2 months."
UPDATE: As expected, both Amazon listings have been deactivated and the Motorola Moto Z4 is no longer available to purchase.
