Samsung's DJ Koh: 'I will bring back a better, safer and very innovative Note 8'

If anyone still has lingering doubts whether Samsung is done and dusted with the Note line, the latest statements from the head of Samsung's mobile unit, D.J. Koh, should dispel them. Not only there is going to be a Note 7 successor, but Mr Koh declared "I will bring back a better, safer and very innovative Note 8" with aplomb. After all, he has been part of the team that developed the idea for the original S Pen stylus, so it's hard to do away with such a differentiator on Samsung's part.

Corporate nostalgia is not the only thing there is to it, though, as the company has determined, during the course of its Note 7 mishap investigation, that there are a lot of Note line fans out there who are nonplussed about the whole shebang, and hope that Samsung will release a successor.

Many Galaxy Note 4 and Note 5 owners in particular have "made it clear, they want a Note," adds Tim Baxter, the chief of Samsung's US branch. We can only agree, and can't wait to see what Samsung is cooking for this year's Note 8 edition - after all, it will have to eventually clash directly against a 5.8" OLED iPhone 8 with wraparound display come defoliation time this fall.
