Samsung starts rolling out Android 9 Pie for Galaxy S9/S9+ earlier than expected
Samsung promised to release its first Android 9 Pie update in early January but allowed those who want to play the beta tester role the chance to try it out before it goes public. Since the official announcement, we had about three Android 9 Pie beta builds released for the Galaxy S9/S9+ and Note 9 in South Korea, Europe, and North America.

Although we didn't expect Samsung to roll out Android Pie update earlier than January, it looks like the South Korean company has decided to offer Galaxy S9/S9+ users a nice Christmas present. It's true that the update is only available in one country for the time being, but we expect it to expand worldwide in the coming weeks.

If you're a beta tester, you'll only have to download a small update that weighs in at 158MB. At the moment, only Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ users in Germany have been given access to the stable version of Android Pie, but beta testers from all over the world should be able to get it by the end of the year.

The folks at SamMobile already have the update hosted on their servers if you don't want to wait for Samsung to push it out OTA (over the air), but that will require you to sideload it.

hmm still slow, buta definitive improvement. If they can make it a couple of months more earlier in future, they will do some good to themselves

They have to make thorough testing to prevent release of a android pie with bugs.

You do realise it's not just Android Pie? It will change Samsung Experience to One UI for more easy one handed use. They are adding alot of features to their update which isnt even part of Android Pie.

Gimme a break... Do you have any idea of the size of the R&D department at Samsung? These features doesn't even require Android Pie! It's just a tattered excuse to justify an unjustifiable delay.

It's easy to port android pie when you barely sell any phones as is the case with Sony.

"Do you have any idea of the size of the R&D department at Samsung?" Nope and so don't you. And do you realise how many phone's Samsung have out there? Some with Snapdragon CPU's some with Exynos CPU's so they obviously have to tinker and take time more than other's. Unlike Apple who have Apple CPU's only, Pixels and One Plus just have Snapdragons. And as long as it doesn't have loads of bugs like when Pixl 3 got Android Pie then it's good Samsung take their time. It's a valid excuse.

You do realise the difference between BORING STOCK android and One UI?

You must know nothing about technology if you think Samsung’s software is as easy to update compared to stock ui. Sony pretty much cut and paste android pie to their phones while Samsung made everything from scratch .
