Two features that some find gimmicky are only available on the current Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S9/S9+ and Galaxy Note 9: Super Slow-Motion and AR Emojis. Perhaps the former wouldn't be gimmicky at all if Samsung wouldn't have included strict limits to how you can capture Super Slow-Motion videos.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+, you can capture 0.2s of 960fps videos, whereas the Galaxy Note 9 allows you to record 0.4s of 960fps videos, both at 720p. However, if you own any other Samsung smartphone, you can't capture slo-mo videos at all.
The good news is Samsung plans to add the Super Slow-Motion and AR Emojis feature to other smartphones as well, such as the Galaxy Note 8. XDA Developers reports that an update that brings the September security patch to the Note 8, also includes these two features too.
Apparently, the update is rolling out in France first, and from what information we've been able to gather, the two functions work the same way as on the Galaxy S9/S9+. Unfortunately, we don't have any details as to how the slo-mo videos on the Note 8 compare to those captured with the Galaxy S9/S9+ or Note 9.
