Press renders leak for the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) with specs in tow

Back in November, we told you that the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) would launch in four colors including Black, Gold, Pink and Blue. This morning, press renders of the phone were disseminated in those four hues. Besides the look of the phone, today's leak also revealed the specs for the handset. According to the source of the photos, the Galaxy A5 (2017) will feature a 5.2-inch screen carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution.

Under the hood is the Exynos 7880 SoC with an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU, and the Mali-T860 MP4 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of native storage. Both the back and front cameras weigh in at 16MP, and a 3000mAh battery will keep the lights on. Android 6.0 is pre-installed.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) will measure 7.8mm thin and will carry a Type-C USB port. Earlier this month, a hands-on video for the phone was discovered on YouTube which displayed a side mounted speaker. But before we could get a better look at it, the video was taken down. A fingerprint scanner could be embedded in the home button, and we should see an IP68 certification rating; this means that the phone can be submerged in water as deep as nearly 10-feet, for as long as 30-minutes, and escape unscathed.

We could see the phone unveiled at CES next month in Lss Vegas along with the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) and the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017).

The design reminds me of the old S3s. IP rating is a welcome feature

FM radio, water resistance, SAMMLER screen, decent GPU+CPU, Samsung pay with MST... My dream phone all the way. I am a bit sorry I have just ordered the redmi note 4, the only consolation I have is that I lose the IP rating and MST, but I get a bit more CPU+GPU power and I paid about half the price of the A5'17.

Same here. I'm also looking for a new (flagship) phone with both FM radio and IP68. Sony was always my favorite brand because they had both (and more), but now Sony has also dropped FM with the XZ, I must be looking somewhere else. If priced right, I'll definately get this one. I hope that the SoC doesn't dissapoint though. But I'll wait at least for the G6 announcement, as it is rumored to be waterproof and LG is the only Android manufacturer that offers FM on its flagship models.

Not decent. Very mediocre CPU and GPU. Exynos 7870, not 7880.

I take that back. GFXBench shows more info now and we know two things: 1. A5 and A7 are going to have Exynos 7880 2. It has pretty powerful Mali-T830MP3 which is 50% faster than Adreno 506 in SD625! 3. It has 8 A53 cores, no A72 cores at all.https://gfxbench.com/compare.jsp?benchmark=gfx40&did1=37930241&os1=Android&api1=gl&hwtype1=GPU&hwname1=ARM+Mali-T830&D2=Asus+ZenFone+3+%28Adreno+506%2C+Z012D+ZE552KL%29

Stop spreading those lies PA! A5 2017 is going to sport Exynos 7870, not 7880! Unfortunately because 7870 is much slower (altough much more efficient). GPU is Mali-T830MP2, very mediocre. Performance wise A5 is going to be on par with Huawei P9 Lite. P10 Lite will destroy them both.

^^ Which means the A5 is geared towards those wo do not need powerful processing power, but to those who need long lasting battery life.

Nice SPECS, but i'm sorry fellows; a 2017 phone with M 6.0 is a sin. This is slap in the face to customers.

Midranger won't get newest system before a flagship.
