On the eve of Apple's expected unveiling of the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6, luxury jeweler Amosu has announced that it is accepting pre-orders for the phone plated in 24K Gold. The company is known for offering gold covered and diamond encrusted versions of BlackBerry handsets, including one that it offered back in 2009 for over $200,000.
Amosu claims to have been the first jeweler to customize the original Apple iPhone back in 2007. Today, it is taking reservations for the iPhone 6 in 24K Yellow and Rose Gold. Buyers can also have their name or company logo engraved on the back of the handset. The price is a gaudy $3872 USD. If you pre-order before this Friday, Amosu will toss in a free leather case valued at $243 USD.
If leather is not exotic enough to touch your 24K Gold iPhone 6, Amosu offers a line of crocodile and Python cases. The jeweler adds that the process used to gold plate the iPhone 6, is the same one employed on Rolex watches.
