Trump gives Artificial Intelligence a new name
Artificial Intelligence no longer exists on US documents as President Trump gives the technology a new name.

We all know that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has a penchant for renaming bodies of water. Now, he is moving to the technology field. In his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump said artificial intelligence (AI) is getting a new moniker, "Super Intelligence" or SI.
Why President Trump changed AI to SI
"The use of the word artificial makes intelligence sound fake," Trump stated. "It is not fake. It’s actually amazing. But we have to be careful. In fact, it is exactly the opposite of what it purports."

Trump added that going forward, all US documents would refer to AI as SI. There is one slight problem that probably won't stop the President from effecting this change. It turns out that Super Intelligence is already "a thing." It is defined as a form of artificial intelligence that exceeds human intelligence. For many AI firms, this is their goal, but is also the potential that has led many to issue warnings about AI killing off the human race by 2030.
Is AI really a threat to humanity?
That dark forecast was posted online earlier this month by former AI safety researcher Jacob Coxon who worked at Anthropic. Coxon wrote that researchers currently working on artificial super intelligence believe that if left unchecked, AI could cause the human race to get wiped out by 2030.
This past summer, we told you about rogue OpenAI agents that broke containment to find the answers of a test that they were being evaluated on. They were able to hack the servers belonging to a firm called Hugging Face. Recently it was disclosed by Google that back in May, Gemini AI models unintentionally breached the computer systems of three companies after a configuration error on a test6 gave the AI agents internet access.
What should we do about AI development?

In that test, the name of a fictional company was the same as the real company whose systems were accessed by the rogue Gemini agents. According to reports, the AI guessed passwords until it was able to find the correct password. According to Google, the rogue AI stopped once it realized that it had accessed systems in the real-world and was no longer in the simulation.

Trump seems not to be concerned about the possibility of AI killing off humans by the end of this decade as he referred to it as a hoax. His main concern is making sure that the US wins the AI race against China and that means we won't see any regulations from the government stifling AI development until 2029.
The President says that the US must win the AI war
The US has restricted China from obtaining NVIDIA's most powerful and advanced AI chips. President Trump has said, "If we don’t win AI, we’re going to be put in a very bad position."
Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are meeting in Washington tomorrow and AI-excuse me-SI-is sure to be on the agenda.
Neither side wants to slow down the development of AI although the US and China could agree on some common definitions and on some safety guidelines. Another potential topic for discussion would be a way to set up a communications system that would allow the two countries to discuss incidents involving AI.
Chris McGuire, senior fellow for China and emerging technologies at the Council on Foreign Relations, told CNBC that an agreement between the two countries that would put a speedbump in the way of AI's breathtaking rate of development.
President Trump has worried some Americans who compared his initial reaction over the possible threat on humanity from AI to his response when Covid first made its way to the US. In both cases his reaction was to call it a hoax and to brush it off. However, with AI, the President did come to the realization that something could happen that would be a threat to humanity.
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that the US will be careful, and rein things in if it has to. But in the same sentence, he suggested that he will only encourage the growth of AI/SI.
