Over the past couple of months, OnePlus released some of the apps that come pre-installed on its smartphones in the Google Play Store. Apps like
Weather and Gallery, as well as the company's Android launcher have been launched on Google Play and made available to everyone owning a OnePlus smartphone.
The only reason that OnePlus did that is to be able to provide its customers with frequent updates on these apps. More recently, the Chinese company announced that in order to speed up
OxygenOS updates, the customized OS that runs on OnePlus smartphones, and to gather user feedback more quickly, it has launched a new program called Individual Application Update.
The Individual Application Update package contains four apps that you can find on the
OnePlus 5, 3 and
3T: OnePlus Launcher, OnePlus Community, OnePlus Weather, and OnePlus Gallery. All four are now available in the Google Play Store, so those who own one of the three smartphones mentioned will be able to update to the latest versions without having to download and upgrade the entire OxygenOS build.
Along with the announcement, OnePlus also offered a few details in advance about the next version of its Launcher, which will be released sometime this week.
According to OnePlus, the
upcoming version of Launcher will feature an optimized home screen folder icon that will contain a preview of the first four icons in the folder. Also, the style has been redesigned to mark folders that have already been opened.
Finally, OnePlus Launcher will feature double finger touch support, which should allow users to hold an item while sliding on the home screen.
