Nokia 9 leaked back cover confirms dual-camera setup, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor

If you haven't gotten too attached to HMD's first true flagship smartphone, the Nokia 8, then you might like the next top-tier handset coming from the Finnish company.

The phone will be available on the market as Nokia 9, but word is HMD plans to announce it early next year. However, rumors about HMD's upcoming flagship have already popped up online, along with a host of pictures based on the CAD files.

Recently, a picture allegedly showing the back plate of the Nokia 9 have leaked out directly from China. The image confirms a couple of details about the phone that emerged weeks ago, such as the dual-camera setup and the positioning of the fingerprint sensor below the primary camera.

It's still unclear what material HMD will use for the phone's outer casing, but the image shows a glossy back cover. The bottom and top sides of the back plate aren't visible in the picture, but rumor has it Nokia 9 will ditch the 3.5mm jack port in favor of USB Type-C.

The rest of the phone's rumored specs include a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio, and Android 8.0 Oreo. Previous reports also claimed the next Nokia flagship would cost €750, slightly less than many other similar devices available on the market.

I was expecting a 5.8-6.0 inch screen This phone looks very small when compred to all new flagships with 18:9 Aspect Ratio.

The rumour is for 5.5-5.7". It's still a very large screen, but may just be more pocketable than the 6"+ beasts we're starting to see. A leaked front panel also shows a 16:9 screen instead of the 2:1 aspect ratio though, so we'll see what rumors end up being true. I for one am happy they decided to not join a race for the largest screen, but settled for something that's easier to handle.

True, the competition is so fierce and with these prices we are allowed to get uber-picky. The only phones that might be worth more than €700 are the Apple's and Pixels because at least they get 3 and 4 years of support.

And a horrible camera hump in tow...

Remember the N8, 808 and 1020 from Nokia? They had significant humps as well, but the camera performance more than made up for it. If they have managed to maintain that level of performance, the hump is irrelevant. Besides, look at the modern iPhones. People are willing to overlook a hump if it means they get a good camera out of it. And the hump prevents scratches to the lens, so it even serves a purpose.

So it's just a Nokia 8 with no headphone jack..

And a larger OLED screen, different design, minimal bezels, improved cameras, waterproofing, etc. So yeah, it's just like a Nokia 8 in the same sense that a Galaxy S8 is just like a Nokia 8, or a V30 is just like a Nokia 8.
