Nokia 3.1 starts receiving Android 8.1 Oreo, here is what's changed
Nokia 3.1 is one of the few Android One smartphones launched by HMD Global that comes with Android 8.0 Oreo on board. However, the Finnish company is about to correct that and update the phone to Android 8.1 Oreo in the coming weeks.
Apparently, Nokia 3.1 users in India noticed that a new update is now being rolled out by HMD, which upgrades their phone's software to Android 8.1 Oreo. By the looks of it, HMD hasn't yet started a wider roll-out for the update, so you'll probably have to wait a few more weeks if you're not living in India.
In case you're wondering, the update weighs in at 1.12GB and includes the September security patch. Aside from that, the official changelog mentions that a new settings menu has been added, along with Bluetooth battery percentage, and a revamped power menu.
Android 8.1 Oreo won't be the only major OS update that Nokia 3.1 will receive, as HMD promised all its smartphones will be upgraded to Android 9.0 Pie in the coming months. So, it's just a matter of “when” rather than “if” the phone will receive another important Android OS update.
