LG announces the Stylo 3 (Stylus 3), plus new K10, K8, K4, and K3 smartphones

LG just announced a bunch of new Android smartphones that will be showcased at CES 2017 in early January: the Stylo 3 (known as Stylus 3 outside of the US), plus refreshed K series models.

The LG Stylo 3 is a large mid-range handset that runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and will likely be released by at least one major US carrier. Just like its predecessor (Stylo 2), the new phone comes with a stylus pen, though this has been improved and now features a 1.8mm diameter fiber-tip for enhanced feedback. Here are the specs of the LG Stylo 3 at a glance:

  • 5.7-inch In-cell Touch display with 720 x 1280 pixels (258ppi)
  • Octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz
  • 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of expandable storage space
  • 8 MP front-facing camera
  • 13 MP rear camera
  • 3200 mAh removable battery
  • LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b, g, n), Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0
  • Weight: 149 grams
  • Size: 155.6 x 79.8 x 7.4 mm
  • Extra: Fingerprint scanner

As for the new K series, this includes four models: K10, K8, K4, and K3. Right now, LG doesn't seem to use "2017" in the names of these handsets, which might confuse some customers, since we already have K10, K8, K4, and K3 phones - all released earlier this year. Anyway, we're glad to see that the new K10 and K8 run Android 7.0 Nougat, but not so glad to find out that the new K4 and K3 will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board. Check out the specs of all four devices below.

Bummer, crappy midrange specs for the LG Stylo. No other manufacturer currently takes the active digitizer seriously on Smartphones besides Samsung...patiently waiting for the Note 8 or Surface Phone.

If the price is right maybe someone will be picking up affordable stylus phones.

Midrange specs?? These specs aren't even low end specs by late 2016 standards! I didn't know any company even sells such low specs phones any more...

They are flooding the market again. Why can't they just release 1 model each per category?

Looks like a bunch of waste.. LG is following HTC in how to screw up the mobile sales.

I wonder if they'll make any profits from these.

I can't believe anyone would buy phones with such crap specs when there are way better Chinese phones for similar or less money, for example: the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime with Global ROM and the Lenovo Zuk Z2 - both 5 inch phones with multiple LTE bands that should work on some US carriers, no Chinese apps either, incredible value for money. I have both of these phones, the Z2 for my wife. The Redmi 3S was only $137 and the Z2 was only $199 but for that you get SD 820, a 3500 mAh battery and 64 GB ROM/4GB RAM - a far cry from the pathetic 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM of some of these useless LG phones.

WTF! LG has after sales service to offer while Chinese brands had nothing. Even here in SE Asia you can't see even one physical store or service centers.

Good point, but there are still devices better for the price that offer after sales service(in my country): lenovo k6, Moto g4.

f**k you LG, I wanting to buy the Stylo 3 but now I'm not because it's just the Stylo 2 and kept only 16gb storage?/? WTF are you thinking. I guess you thought by adding another gb of RAM would help. The so called K10 is crap with a fingerprint scanner...........................................................
