LG G4 tops Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 in Consumer Reports performance score

The LG G4, with its 5.5" Quad HD display, and a 16 MP optically-stabilized camera, has won hearts and minds over at Consumer Reports, where it got 78 in performance score, out of the 100 maximum. Interestingly enough, the same publications ranked the current flagships of the two mobile juggernauts - Apple and Samsung - lower. The Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6 jointly occupy the fifth place in the Consumer Reports ranking system.

The G4 features plenty of unique features, like in the case of its IPS Quantum Display, laser-assist focus for the camera, and a color spectrum sensor. It also comes with a genuine leather back option in numerous interesting colors, setting it apart from the cold, hard plastic, glass or metal crowd. You can agree to disagree with the Consumer Reports' ranking system, but the fact is that these folks are shaping the opinions of numerous shoppers before they pull the "buy" trigger," so the G4 now has one unforeseen ally on its side on the crusade against the big boys.

Far less people have bought the G4, so it's understandable that the S6 and IPhone 6 would have more negative feedback bringing down its score.

Yeah but that doesn't mean anything since the result are in percentage, sales don't matter.

It does matter because your device has sold so much that there's bound to be those that don't like the product and their scores can bring down the rating.

So a negative review on a phone that didn't sell as well actually hurts that phone more.

Basic math isn't your forte, is it? If it were, you would understand that a higher number of purchases would also mean a higher number of positive reviews in addition to the higher number of negative reviews. Thus, "big people" calculate the percentage as a basic form of statistical analysis to reach their conclusion.

I like LG. I owned an Optimus G, Nexus 4, and Nexus 5. I was expecting to impulse buy the G4 but its seriously pretty disappointing.

G4 just came out, not many people owns it and who ever bought it, its still brand new so its obvious there wont be many complaints... this is a stupid article.

The S6 and iPhone also have bad battery life.

You act like your mad about the G4 getting a good consumer report your stupid if you think when you got a new phone you necessary like it more even if it's a year from getting your phone you must still like it that's the exact opposite from Samsung since i always see people complaining about they're phones lagging. In the other hand iPhone owners are still happy with they're phones after even 2 years. The battery life of a phone is optional only important to most power users one day of battery life is good enough.

So why would you care if I act mad about it? are you getting paid by LG to defend them? if so why would you waste your time defending them if your not? "your stupid if you think when you got a new phone you necessary like it more even if it's a year from getting your phone"... i really do think you are getting paid by LG that you actually start saying lies now... unless your from a different country and didn't understand what i said? ill repeat myself so its easier for you to understand... The G4 is a brand new phone meaning not many people owns it = less complaints... since the phone is brand new, it will take another few months or so for the complaints to start happening because phones can also start showing trouble later down the track.... the S6 and the iphone has been out for a few months now, while the iphone has been out for almost 1 year... so its obvious the S6 and iphone will have more complaints... hench why i think this article is stupid, NOT LG or any other brands. Use google translator if you cant understand me, or just stop talking because your making yourself sound stupid.

They aren't ranking by benchmarks as in performance test but their grading scale of recommendation. The G4 topped the S6 and iPhone as a higher recommended device by consumer reports.

I guess Consumer Reports will be mostly the only ones buying LG phones. LG isn't going to hurt the top seller anytime soon.

Hm, customer reports says nothing about the trade in of your phone, I.e. You get nothing for lg, it also goes in about Samsung removing sd card from the s6 but does not say why I.e. Upgraded to ufs, they also do not go on about the speed and the cheap parts used in the other phones and so on, also lg software is very bad

I don't rely on CR much for anything but tire tests and car reliability surveys, but this article will at least get people to consider other options. So that is a good thing. Many people won't just mindlessly plop down hundreds of dollars on second rate phones like the S6 and iPhone 6. That's a good thing.

This makes sense, as it is a better phone than Iphone 6 and Galaxy S6.
