High-end Honor 8 Pro to be announced at MWC 2017

High-end Honor 8 Pro to be announced at MWC 2017
Honor is reportedly planning to announce a new smartphone at MWC 2017 later this month. According to Russian website Hi-Tech, the handset will be called Honor 8 Pro, being an international version of the Honor V9 (which should be officially showcased in China on February 21).

Unlike the regular Honor 8 and the Honor 8 Lite, which are mid-range smartphones, the Honor 8 Pro is a high-end device.

Powered by an octa-core 2.4 GHz Kirin 960 processor, the Honor 8 Pro sports a pretty large 5.7-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display, and runs Android 7 Nougat. The handset comes with up to 6 GB of RAM, up to 128 GB of expandable storage space, and a 3900 mAh battery. The phone seems to have the same dual 12 MP rear camera found on the regular Honor 8, plus an 8 MP front-facing camera. Moreover, there's a fingerprint scanner on the back.

The Honor 8 Pro should look just like the V9 (pictured below), but will obviously not have China Mobile's logo on the back. It's said that the new phone will be released sometime in March. For now, we don't know if Honor plans to launch the 8 Pro in North America, but we'll let you know when we find out.

nice specs... has anyone used a honor device? hows the performance? hows the build quality?

Performance is top notch, build quality is generally very good. No complaints on either (as long as you stick to the mid to higher end ones, 5x and 6x are a diff story)

Appreciate the summary... Might have to pick this up, or the p10 plus if they come to the states.

I have an honor 8, and it's an awesome device, Its faster than the Galaxy S7, excellent battery time, beautiful design (I don't know why they have to change it with the 8 Pro) The camera is also great. Though does not perform very well in low light. The daylight photos are much better than the rest of the phones. The color accuracy and the dynamic range is excellent. I have been using LG phones before this and they had this issue of overexposing things. Honor 8 keep a perfect balance. The new EMUI is also great having some useful tricks that other Android skins don't have. The Bad, I dropped my phone in cooking oil and now the phone is with Huawei for repairing. They told me you will receive it after a week. Still haven't got it after 12 days. They are saying that they are waiting for the parts to arrive. They do not have an extra display available in their customer service center which is a shame.

I'm not sure that I'd call the Honor 8 a mid-ranger. It's at a similar level as the Oneplus 3t and Axon 7... Are these considered mid-rangers?

Good. I've been deciding and waiting which Honor product I would choose.
