HTC's rumored 5 incher is said to be the first DROID phablet; more specs leak

We have some more information now on the HTC device which has a model number of HTC 6435LVW. HTC Source has been calling the device the DIx which could stand for the HTC DROID Incredible X. Additionally, the device is said to emit the familiar 'DROID sound for notifications, and the red/black color scheme looks very much like the HTC DROID Incredible smartphone series.
pixel density of an amazing 480ppi which goes well beyond Retina display territory. A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor is under the hood with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage on board. The HTC DIx supposedly has a second notification light on the back so you can be alerted even with the device placed face down on a table. While it all sounds good so far we do have to point out that there is no microSD slot on the model. And unlike the Samsung GALAXY Note series and the LG Intuition, the rumored HTC phablet does not have a special pen for scribbling on the screen, according to the source. Even the Scribe stylus from the HTC Flyer fails to work on the screen.
We might see HTC introduce this model at its September 19th event. For Verizon fans, it looks like they will have a wide choice of phablets to choose from before the end of the year.

why would it need to be droid branded? Droid branding has nothing to do with the quality of the phone. The HTC thunderbolt wasn't the droid thunderbolt, and it had no effect on the quality of the device. the HTC rezound wasn't droid branded... and that has been one of the best devices on verizon. Droid branding doesn't give the phone some special edge. droid is android... android is droid.

I don't think the snapdragon s4's adreno 225 graphics can handle that kind of resolution but htc obviously thought of that. So, we will all see what works out ?

dude it says "quadcore" so that means it will be the adreno 320 not the 225 can you read straight?

I would have loved to get this but with no microsd and not even a stylus, its not worth it in my opinion. I could have up to 128GB of space with the note 2 including more polished software instead of a start and a stylus. The value of the higher screen is not even worth it.

are accessories really THAT important? while it may not have a stylus it will indeed have a better design than samungs note 2.......you can guarantee that......htc's design is always better and more premium than samsung.... If no sd card slot then lets hope it has 32 gb internal memory installed and if it does then there is no doubt in my mind this will be a better choice than the note 2

You make some great points. But there is one thing that is the last problem and thats the software. Samsung has had practice with these types of devices and is releasing their second. HTC on the other hand had a failure for a tablet with little success and a so-so record on their phones (though the new ones show great promise). So the question is would you trust a first try by HTC or a second by Samsung?

its like this dude.....yea samsung may have better software than htc and that can be opinionated....but if you really look at it htc's software isnt THAT far from samsung! if its behind at all.... so the question is do you prefer a phone (or phablet), that has "good" software and a great design or do you prefer a phone that jus delivers in the software area and has a pretty normal and..... well........ cheap design? i say its a steal because you can have both beauty and power.......but of course the choice is yours for the making

another thing is that software is pretty much unlimited in terms of usability once you root it :D Which is why I rate build quality+specs > software. Not that HTC's software is bad, imo its a lot better than touchwiz. However gnote's s-pen software is definitely optimised for a pen :3
