HTC's rumored 5 incher is said to be the first DROID phablet; more specs leak
All of a sudden, Verizon seems to be overflowing with phablets. Currently, the LG Intuition is the only phablet in Big Red's lineup, but at least two more are said to be on the way. Saturday, we showed you leaked photographs of a Verizon branded Samsung GALAXY Note II, which displayed Verizon's branded home button. And for a few weeks, there has been talk about a monster HTC 5 inch phablet coming to Big Red with a 1080p screen.

We have some more information now on the HTC device which has a model number of  HTC 6435LVW. HTC Source has been calling the device the DIx which could stand for the HTC DROID Incredible X. Additionally, the device is said to emit the familiar 'DROID sound for notifications, and the red/black color scheme looks very much like the HTC DROID Incredible smartphone series.

The 5 inch screen is said to have 1080p resolution, as we've noted. That works out to a pixel density of an amazing 480ppi which goes well beyond Retina display territory. A quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor is under the hood with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage on board. The HTC DIx supposedly has a second notification light on the back so you can be alerted even with the device placed face down on a table. While it all sounds good so far we do have to point out that there is no microSD slot on the model. And unlike the Samsung GALAXY Note series and the LG Intuition, the rumored HTC phablet does not have a special pen for scribbling on the screen, according to the source. Even the Scribe stylus from the HTC Flyer fails to work on the screen.

We might see HTC introduce this model at its September 19th event. For Verizon fans, it looks like they will have a wide choice of phablets to choose from before the end of the year.
