Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom (with dual rear camera) might be released in the US
Asus is getting ready to launch a new Android smartphone that comes with a dual rear camera. Possibly called Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom, the handset was first spotted last week in China, and we're now seeing that it's been approved by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) for use in the US.

The FCC reveals that the new smartphone, model number Asus Z01HD, supports LTE bands that are fully compatible with AT&T's network, and partially compatible with T-Mobile's network. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean the device will be officially released in the US, but at least all prerequisites for this to happen are now met.

The dual rear camera of the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom includes at least a 16 MP unit, and might offer 2x optical zoom - similar to the dual rear camera of Apple's iPhone 7 Plus. Asus is already selling a handset with optical zoom (3x): the ZenFone Zoom, though this one packs last year's hardware, and is a pretty thick device.

Measuring 154.3 x 77 x 7.9 mm, the ZenFone 3 Zoom sports a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The handset currently runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, includes a very generous 4,850 mAh battery, and has several slightly different versions, with 2 GB / 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM, and 16 GB / 32 GB / 64 GB of internal memory.

Keep in mind that "ZenFone 3 Zoom" is not the final name of this upcoming smartphone, though we're pretty sure that this is part of the ZenFone 3 series - unless Asus is ready to announce a ZenFone 4 family.

Asus will officially unveil new devices in early January at CES 2017, and the ZenFone 3 Zoom could be among them.
