Apple now selling cheaper refurbished iPhones through its U.S. online store
Apple has started selling refurbished iPhones through its U.S. online store. This makes for cheaper means of getting an iPhone and on-board the iOS ecosystem of apps and services while still retaining warranty support.

Apple currently sells iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models, starting at $449 for the 16GB iPhone 6s and $529 for the 16GB 6s Plus. These are about $100 discounts from the non-refurbished models. The units are unlocked and SIM-free, with one year warranties. They batteries and outer shells have been completely replaced.

With the introduction of refurbished smartphones, Apple should be able to clear out its inventory of older iPhones more easily while offering a more competitive alternative to Android smartphones of similar price.

Whoa. eBay sellers better watch out! Not bad though.

Hahahahahahahahaha. These refurbished prices are pathetic. Most Android phones at that price range offer more storage, and that's not even counting micro-SD.

"Most Android phones at that price range offer more storage, and that's not even counting micro-SD." Most Android phones are cheap to start with.......not everyone wants the green robot in their lives.

Cheap doesn't necessarily translate into bad performance. Have a look at high-class flagships from Meizu and Xiaomi. Though they're cheaper than these refurbrished iPhones, they're way better. "Most Android phones are cheap to start with.......not everyone wants the green robot in their lives " iPhones are cheap to produce - cheaper than most Android phones, start with....... not everyone wants to be ripped-off in their lives.

I guess Apple couldn't dump their refurbished iPhones on India. So naturally Apple has to get rid of them some how. (There goes that resale value crap). The other thing that people are missing here is since iOS 10 has grown considerably. Not to mention that the apps always grow as well. Putting it plain and simply, any 16 gb iPhone is not worth what Apple is looking for The other thing is the iPhone SE was released earlier this year and they dropped the price of the 64 gb iPhone SE by $50. If it was selling so well, then you can bet your bottom dollar that Apple would never have dropped the price if it was selling well.

People just see cheaper, they never ask why. It's a pretty safe bet that Meizu and Xiaomi are selling your info to various bidders. I don't need to save a 1, 2 or even 300 bucks to sell my life down the river.

"iPhones are cheap to produce - cheaper than most Android phones, start with....... not everyone wants to be ripped-off in their lives." iPhones are also supported for a lot longer than ANY android phone. Also another thing knuckleheads like you always never consider is that Apple bears the cost of OS development and paying the apps developers, and needs to offset that cost. Samsung or LG or fill-in-whatever-android-device-turns-you-on doesn't have to shoulder that cost, it's taken care of by Google. So yeah, there are several good reasons a used iPhone costs more, but is totally worth it. XOXOX

Is the support better? There are Androids that are 5 years old, that do more than today's iPhone. All you care about is version numbers and security fixes. I ca. Get a device running Kit Kat and I will feel safer than using an iOS device and most of my apps will have older versions I can use. I could care less if my Android ever gets updated, as long as devs update the main apps I use. I know my Note 5 will.stoll do.more than an iPhone 5 years from when it came out. The battery in my Note would have the totally be dead, before it would ever be as useless as an IPhone in my opinion. I mean that in the context of, your one iPhone model could be updated for 5 years in a row, my Note 5 will still do.more than the newest iPhone. A HTC Evo still can do things today's iPhone can't do. The list is obviously shorter the older a device is. But an IPhone is outdated after just 2.5 years. I see plenty of people with a Nexus 5.

Ok, I'll take the bait; please tell me what you can do with an android phone that you can't do with an iPhone.

Bluetooth file transfer to other devices, even ones running different OS's. Quick charging. Wireless charging. Fully functional NFC. Split screen multitasking. Profiles. Dual Sim support. Expandable storage. Better customization. Replaceable battery (although, that's fading fast).

And I'd wish you get off your high horse with this "follow up everything kiko says" game you got going on. It's annoying. Not to mention undermining your own point to start with. I could dissect everything in your post in a few sentences... "Cheap doesn't necessarily translate into bad performance" Thanks mind reader...... I totally thought that./s "Have a look at high-class flagships from Meizu and Xiaomi. Though they're cheaper than these refurbrished iPhones, they're way better." Already committing a serious logical fallacy there friend. You don't get to determine what's "better" just like I can't say Meizu is "trash" without a riot starting. Take a rain check..... "iPhones are cheap to produce - cheaper than most Android phones, start with....... not everyone wants to be ripped-off in their lives." God you're a f**king fanboy. If you think paying 27/mo. is being "ripped-off" I feel sorry for you and your spouse/family members. God knows how tight those wallets must be with an outlook like yours. What am I saying......you're a Samsung knight! Anything they ask of you isn't enough, right? Their phones must be awesome for you to ride their junk so vigorously! I mean, I've had a few, and been relatively pleased with them....but not to the degree you have. What a tool.........

"And I'd wish you get off your high horse with this "follow up everything kiko says" game you got going on. It's annoying. Not to mention undermining your own point to start with." Dude, you do the same thing with techie. Hypocrite, much? "God you're a f**king fanboy." "What am I saying......you're a Samsung knight! Anything they ask of you isn't enough, right? Their phones must be awesome for you to ride their junk so vigorously! I mean, I've had a few, and been relatively pleased with them....but not to the degree you have. What a tool........." Dude, one can say the same thing about you concerning the iPhone. Hypocrite much, again? I think you're a cool dude, kiko. I really do. But you do the exact same thing that you say Android users do.

"Dude, you do the same thing with techie. Hypocrite, much?" Ummm.....I do? I respond to techie every now and again, but not straight up post cataloging like this dude. "Dude, you do the same thing with techie. Hypocrite, much?" See the title? How about the original statement by OP? See a pattern here? "I think you're a cool dude, kiko. I really do. But you do the exact same thing that you say Android users do." As I you. However, I have just as much a right to do this as you do with mxy in BB articles. He's trolling.....and I'm gonna crush his small minded grandees opinions into talcum powder. He brought it on himself with his "notice me senpai" attitude. Well.....senpai noticed.

I see you do this to techie more than "every now and again." "I have just as much a right to do this as you do with mxy in BB articles." Point taken. But NOBODY trolls as much as mxy. He trolls BlackBerry, Android, Samsung, LG, Motorola....and just because he doesn't like them. And tbh, trojan responds to those he feels trolls Android, just like you respond to those that troll iOS, just like I respond to those that incessantly troll BlackBerry articles like that idiot mxyzptlk. The same way you see what trojan said as trolling iOS, I'm pretty sure he saw what you said as trolling Android. In that retrospect, he's not too much different from you or I.

Dude. Smack him with facts. He's right too. Lots of people don't want Android. The problem is, he tries to make it sound like it's such a good thing not to have Android. Even though billions think so and they got there app we than Apple. These guys keep associating cheap with garbage. Yet like you said, the iPhone cost Apple $220 to make, and there are very good phones at similar cost. But to bad, they don't run iOS. Because if they did, the iPhone would die a horrible death. We know that and they know that. It's pointless to even argue with them. It's not worth it. They think a $200 phone is worth $800. I believe a $200 phone is only worth $200. But the best $200 phone doesn't retail for less than $650. So.if you want the beat, you gotta pay the cost no matter what side you are on. But they try to omit the things they claim don't matter, when they don't have it.

"Most Android phones at that price range offer more storage, and that's not even counting micro-SD." None of the Android phones at any price range offers iOS, so, for people who want iOS, it may be a good deal.

Yep That's the point, they don't run iOS. Spnall.is Android fans let's all do this. Let's all respect the fact that, to have whatbyou want means you gotta pay whatever it costs to have it. If we think it's stupid to pay $800 for getring a phpne with the same dewign for 3 years, a camera that tames only slighy better pictures than lasts yeats and still cant beat. 7 month old flagship, and low stirage, no free gifts, gotta buy stupid dongles, gotta wrap the phone in wax paper protect it and other stupo d thinhs....then let them enjoy. The iPhone is a great phone. But for whatnot costs it should be better than great. Exotic cars are not worth 6 figures. I don't care how fast they are. On the street we all.druve the same speed. They are just pretty to look at. Since you're getting almost nothing with iOS, I don't know how that's better than even having Vanilla Android.

Just wait until December here in the US as many retailers will be offering iDevices with some sort of discount. You'll probably be able to get an equal or better deal on a brand new iToy.

People should stay away from refurbished iPhones. They tend to have antenna and processing problems.

Since they weren't allowed to dump them in India, they found a market they can off load them in.
