Apple now selling cheaper refurbished iPhones through its U.S. online store
Apple has started selling refurbished iPhones through its U.S. online store. This makes for cheaper means of getting an iPhone and on-board the iOS ecosystem of apps and services while still retaining warranty support.

Apple currently sells iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models, starting at $449 for the 16GB iPhone 6s and $529 for the 16GB 6s Plus. These are about $100 discounts from the non-refurbished models. The units are unlocked and SIM-free, with one year warranties. They batteries and outer shells have been completely replaced.

With the introduction of refurbished smartphones, Apple should be able to clear out its inventory of older iPhones more easily while offering a more competitive alternative to Android smartphones of similar price.
