Apple Watch still slated for an early 2015 launch, WatchKit arrives next month so devs can make apps for it
At its iPad event today, Apple also talked about its very first wearable device: the Apple Watch. As you may know, when the Watch was first announced (in September), Apple said that the device would be released in early 2015. This was reconfirmed today by Tim Cook, who also revealed WatchKit - of which we hadn’t previously heard.

WatchKit will be launched in November as an SDK for developers who want to make applications for the Apple Watch. The Watch obviously needs apps that are specifically tailored for it, because it doesn’t run iOS, but Watch OS - which, although based on iOS, is different, featuring round app icons (among other things).

According to previous rumors, you may be able to buy an Apple Watch as soon as February. Prices for Apple’s first smart wearable will start at $349, and could go up to thousands of dollars (for luxury, gold-plated models). The Apple Watch will come in two sizes, with more than 30 different designs expected to be available. Are you looking forward to buying any of them? Or maybe you find Android Wear, or Tizen more attractive? Let us know in the comments!
