New AirPods colors coming this fall, wireless charging case launch near: tipster
Apple first previewed an AirPods wireless charging case back in September of 2017. Since then, the product has not been mentioned by the company. According to reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer, though, the accessory could be just around the corner.
More specifically, one “seemingly reliable source” has revealed that Apple’s long-awaited wireless charging case will be announced “soon.” Interestingly, though, it’s claimed that the accessory won’t ship with an updated pair of AirPods. Instead, Apple will allegedly bundle it in with the current-gen model.
As for the highly-anticipated second-gen AirPods, Hemmerstoffer believes that they won’t make an appearance on March 29 as previously suggested. Instead, the new product will most likely arrive “this fall” alongside the 2019 iPhone series and any other hardware Apple may have up its sleeves for later on in the year.
While on the topic of second-generation AirPods, previous reports point towards an improved audio chip, new health-related features, and a new coating which should make them less slippery.
As recently as yesterday it was also claimed that a new black option would be released. Hemmerstoffer didn’t directly confirm this but he did tease the possibility by stating that “new colors” would be released.
