Xiaomi’s first tri-fold may launch in 2026
A mysterious Xiaomi device with model number 2608BPX34C appeared in the GSMA database. According to XiaomiTime, that is Xiaomi’s long-rumored tri-fold device, which may be called Xiaomi Mix Trifold.
Xiaomi’s tri-fold phone first leaked in a patent filing, which featured renderings of the device. The new listing doesn’t reveal much beyond the model number of the device, but Xiaomi is likely to launch the Mix Trifold in the third quarter of 2026.

Based on the earlier renders, Xiaomi’s design will be similar to the Huawei Mate XT, which features a single display with a folding mechanism that leaves one part of it outside when folded. Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold uses a different design with a second external screen.

If that rumor is true, Xiaomi is likely to join the tri-fold market right around the time Apple is expected to launch the iPhone Fold. Samsung is also likely to stick to the usual summer launch date for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, which is at the beginning of the third quarter.

Xiaomi is also rumored to be working on two other foldables, which it may launch at the beginning of 2026. The Xiaomi 17 Fold would be a book-style device, while the Xiaomi Mix Flip 3 might be the flip offering. Both devices may target productivity users and flagship enthusiasts.
The year of the foldable
Years after Samsung launched the Galaxy Z series, it appears that most manufacturers are preparing to make foldable smartphones mainstream. I like the idea, but unless they address the high prices, I don’t think consumers will buy them in bulk.
