Asus has already started to push Android 7.0 Nougat to one of its high-end smartphones, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, but its mid-range devices didn't get too much attention until now.

At least two mid-range ZenFone 3 smartphones are now eligible for Nougat updates, specifically the ZE520KL and ZE552KL variants. The Taiwanese company confirmed the unlocked versions of these two handsets would be getting Android 7.0 Nougat updates starting today.

The updates are pushed OTA, and the rollout should be completed in about one week. Those who own either of the two ZenFone 3 models should manually check for the update if they don't get it in the next week or so.

Besides upgrading the software to Android 7.0 Nougat, the update brings some changes added by Asus. For example, some redundant apps and shortcuts will be removed, such as PC Suite, “Tap and hold to show menu,” and Share Link.

Also, Asus mentions that for those who prefer to use Easy mode, a Launcher app menu will appear on the screen after updating to Android 7.0 Nougat, where they will have to select the default launcher again.

Furthermore, the volume options for the ringtone and notifications are now available as separate options. The update also improves touch performance and brings some UI tweaks for better usability.

The update contains the same changes for both Asus ZenFone 3 smartphones. It's also worth noting that you will need at least 1.5GB of free space if you want to update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
