Trio of photos leak, showing the rear of the Apple iPad Air 2
The Apple iPad Air 2 is expected to include the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, embedded in the home button. An earlier leak back in June, showed the bottom portion of the front of the tablet, which revealed the unmistakable Touch ID button. Additionally, the Apple A8 processor is expected to be running the show.
The Apple iPad Air 2 has been in the long shadow cast by the Apple iPhone 6 and the rumored 5.5 inch Apple iPhone phablet. The slate is expected to start mass production next month, along with the phablet and the Apple iPad mini 3. That means we could see the Apple iPad Air 2, the Apple iPad mini 3 and the 5.5 inch iPhone all enjoy a mid to late October launch.

The A8 better be powerful or Apple will be bashed to death once again for having a low clocked, low core chip.

What do you mean "again"? Apple's had top performing processors for a while now.
More cores and higher clock speeds don't guarantee better performance. Apple does more with 2 cores than a lot of other processors do with 4.

Your comparing an A15 64bit to an A15 32bit. Lmfao
I've course it would, it has more pipeline stage and extra memory bandwidth.
Just imagine Samsung uses the A64bit version, it would destroy the Apples A7, A8 Cyclone.

Apples A57 64bit vs Samsung's Exynos 32bit A15.
That is pathetically cheating.
It's like comparing a Arm Cortex A53, A17, vs A57... Lmfao

iphone 5s with A7 and just a with a gig ram out performs most of the smartphone, in benchmarks and real life tests. coming that from soon to be an year old phone.

Negative, it marginally beats the S4 (which was at least 6 months old at that point) in some tests. All of the off screen graphics tests show a marginal difference and the CPU tests are all single/dual core, which favors the larger apple cores. In the multicore 3DMark physics test the iPhones get demolished by an almost 2:1 margin (although Mr. Klug tries to be nice and calls it a bug). Still, it is tragic, for all the fluff around the iPhone and its superior hardware, actual results show it barely beats 6 month old hardware.

Does it matter? Either way, apples processor compares favorably to the competition. It doesn't matter if it was 64 bit or not, it's a powerful processor and there's on getting around that fact
38. sathinator (Posts: 5; Member since: 29 Sep 2013)
So Apple takes a technological lead 2013 and you're attacking the chip for outperforming an outdated chip design that Samesung still ships in 2014 and you want to claim that it's an unfair performance comparison? LOL.

Quite silly really
42. vincelongman (Posts: 1130; Member since: 10 Feb 2013)
Example of what I mean
E.g. look at the Physics from that review, the 800 does much better than A7

Do you think Apple cares about being bashed by a bunch of haters, who won't ever buy their stuff anyway? You shoulda deleted this post dude.

Freedom of speech serves the search for truth
There’s a long tradition in philosophy claiming that freedom of speech and the equal right of everyone to express himself or herself in public on any possible topic improves the quality of opinions and knowledge.
Aswell as to let to know the mindless, brainless people into falling into their BS, nonsense trap.
24. Sreddy (Posts: 55; Member since: 14 Sep 2013)
nah not for truth, not all does that
some abuse it
like you !!
hating, insulting others on their looks when you dont have anything mroe to say..

The problem with democracy is that it works only in morally and ethically educated society with a goal to profit everyone with their choices.
The freedom of speech is that you will discuss the your problem on ony topic objectively with the community and search for general consensus of opinions which MAY lead to truth.
Not just, oh this is horrible and anybody who thinks the opposite is a fool without the right to express his opinion so I will verbally attack his opinion even before I will think about that opinion. Such people absolutely break the laws of discussion and they would be excluded from the discussion by voting of other members of discussion. Or here on internet where there is no community moderation option, the meaning of your posts will be simply ignored, or it will be politely shown where they are broken.
And about truth, you could be sure to death that it's raining, but when the sun is shining, you don't have truth.

Is that why iPad sales are declining.
Voice of reasons helps.
Letting and telling others that Apple products are overpriced and overhyped, aswell as subpar medicore products.
27. Arte-8800 (limited) (Posts: 4281; Member since: 13 Mar 2014)
Buddy I find your answer lame at best.
39. sathinator (Posts: 5; Member since: 29 Sep 2013)
Apple doesn't sell 'medicore' products. That's Samesung's game. That's why their smartphone sales declined by 19% last quarter. People are tired of Korean knock-offs being sold with early 2013 technology in mid-2014.

Oh s**t the design is still the same.... "innovation"
40. sathinator (Posts: 5; Member since: 29 Sep 2013)
Please explain exactly what is so different and innovative about Samesung's GS3, to GS4, to GS5 designs? The only thing that I can pick is that they seem to get slightly uglier each time. Same goes with their endless, ugly tablet iterations with their increasingly appalling TouchWiz UI.

At least it is possible to differenciate a S3, a S4 and a S5, which isn't possible between the last iPads and the iPad Air 2.
And frankly, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S is more beautiful than any other Samsung tablet...
6. stealthd (Posts: 948; Member since: 12 Jun 2011)
Surface just blows. Surface Pro isn't even in the same category.
14. UglyFrank (Posts: 370; Member since: 23 Jan 2014)
Hell, even the xiaomi mi pad blew it away
48. StraightEdgeNexus (Posts: 3197; Member since: 14 Feb 2014)
Looks like you got a nice paycheck eh, M$ shill? Your "sufrace" laptop doesn't even comes close to this beauty.
10. Ninetysix (Posts: 1544; Member since: 08 Oct 2012)
Blow it away in what way exactly? Nexus never had the latest and greatest SoC on release date.
22. darkkjedii (Posts: 10956; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
It'll be a top selling, performing, and beautiful tablet as always. There's nothing truly revolutionary coming down the pipe for a couple years. If you look over the last couple years, it's been more evolution, than revolution. Phones and tabs are maxing out, wearables, auto, and home are the next frontiers. Apples SoC will be just fine, out spec'd by a couple, but real world performance will be top notch. Here comes Arte the ass.
49. StraightEdgeNexus (Posts: 3197; Member since: 14 Feb 2014)
I guess you forgot that nexus 10 came with the best chipset of its time- Exynos 5
51. Ninetysix (Posts: 1544; Member since: 08 Oct 2012)
Not even close :(
52. StraightEdgeNexus (Posts: 3197; Member since: 14 Feb 2014)
Oh keep those crap benchmarks to yourself. Nexus devices never top those fake charts, because Google doesn't "optimise" chipset (read cheat)..... yet they are super smooth and fast.
Also shall I tell you the truth that the iPad Air lags and stutters on ios 7 too.
And FYI, I believe iPads are the best tablet experiences currently. Not a bandwagon hater.
9. darkkjedii (Posts: 10956; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Once again, the iPad will be the top seller, and one of the top performers.

The Cult of Apple has had a negative impact on the minds of many of its followers. It is largely believed that they brainwash people by telling them to 'think different'. Ironically it turns out that most of the cult's followers turn into mindless zombies believing everything their cult leader, Steve Jobs, tells them and as a result they rather 'think the same'.
That's why iBoy.
Hey Darkkjedii, I thought you said your gonna grow your hair, so you could cover your egghead shaped head bro...?
You could grow it like an afro bro....?
What's your plan Darkkjedii..?
29. Arte-8800 (limited) (Posts: 4281; Member since: 13 Mar 2014)
You can do so much better than this, can't you?
43. gigaraga (Posts: 865; Member since: 29 Mar 2013)
Nothing special. Consumers would probably buy this because they don't have a wide vision for tablets. And then we have the people on the other end who buy the Surface because they want huge heavy laptop thingys
47. StraightEdgeNexus (Posts: 3197; Member since: 14 Feb 2014)
Beautiful. I want the 64gb one, but even the 32gb is out of my budget. :(
