The Lumia 640 could be Microsoft's next affordable Windows smartphone
Microsoft may soon launch a new and affordable smartphone called Lumia 640. The handset (model number RM-1109) was recently approved by Brazil's Anatel - the country's National Telecommunication Agency - which revealed not only the smartphone's name, but also some of its features.

The Lumia 640 will offer HSDPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, dual SIM capabilities, support for digital TV (which seems to be quite popular in Brazil), and a 2500 mAh battery. We don't know if the handset will run Windows Phone 8.1, or Windows 10 at launch.

The name of the Lumia 640 suggests that the smartphone is the successor to he Nokia Lumia 630 and Lumia 635, both of which will soon be 1 year old. A Lumia 645 will probably also exist, and, like the Lumia 635, this model could feature LTE connectivity, being made for the US market.

Microsoft might want to announce the Lumia 640 and 645 at MWC 2015 next month. These could become the company's fourth and fifth own-branded smartphones, after the Lumia 535 (pictured above), Lumia 532, and Lumia 435. We'll keep an eye on this, and let you know more as soon as new details arrive.

Microsoft is all about gaining ground from the bottom up, nit a bad strategy at all but please give me an awesome high-end, I'm trading in my 920 for an 830 or 1020 this weekend but if rather have something more premium that said I love the 830 just wished it came in 32 GB, guess it'll work for now

The M8 for windows beats them both, in many ways. Just try it out, and don't be closed minded like some the "windows phone fans"

Why MS came out with 512 mb of ram on the 630/635 blows my mind. It was stupid on their part. But most likely they will bump up the ram.

Blame your carrier not the OEMs.

Once 5G becomes a developed world standard, all these modems that have Cat. 4 speeds or higher will be actually useful.

Like I said before Microsoft is replacing all Nokia brand Lumia smart phones with Microsoft
brand Lumia smart phones because Nokia could return to selling smart phones in 2016.

I hope this heralds the new crop of (#)#40-series handsets. A 940, 1040, and 1540 seem absolutely critical at this point.
