Motorola Moto 360 successor rumored to come early next year, probably sans the
The head of the Eastern European branch of Motorola (now fully-owned by Lenovo), Gleb Mishin, has allegedly hinted that the Motorola Moto 360 will soon be succeeded by the second generation of the round Android Wear smartwatch. This was revealed at a press conference held before Russian media. His actual words are that the second generation watch might soon hit the shelves in Russian. The gadget will allegedly come with "a modified design", be more "beautiful", and "more like a watch", which hints us that the black bar of unused space at the bottom might see the hatchet.

Most of Motorola's new devices, such as the Moto G (2014), Moto E (2014), the Motorola-made Nexus 6, and the first-gen Moto 360 are said to arrive in Russia early next year, and Mishin said that at that time the second generation of the Android Wear wearable might break cover. What's more, it is also speculated that the device can even hit the shelves soon afterwards, but this is a rather far of a stretch, considering the relatively large time window between the announcement of the Moto 360 and its market availability.

That black bar never really bothered me, but a 2nd generation Moto 360 should be nice regardless, since most first-gen anything isn't always great.

I think it would be awesome if they made a smart watch with a lot of storage or micro SD. This would be really great if they added WiFi as well. So you could store things, like not only music, but videos, and all kinds of stuff.
Potable WiFi storage on your wrist.

That would be nice, but looking at photos or watching videos on your watch probably isn't ideal.
Though the portable wifi storage idea is genius.

The "black bar", "flat tire" whatever else you may want to call it was the deal breaker for me. The watch is still the most beautiful smart watch out and I am 100% confident that the watch will truly be 360 degrees in the second generation.

Crazy! The 360 will end up having had a longer hype-life than shelf-life...!

I feel that they should make it completely circular (which has hurt them that is isn't currently) and update the internals (which was kinda like leftover scrap from the past), maybe add a little more fitness to it as well... Just in time for iWatch!

We haven't even gotten the first Gen device in my part of Europe, yet, and in a Reddit AMA the Moto360 product manager said it would be launched locally in early 2015. Hopefully we'll get the 2nd Gen, rather than scrappy leftovers of 1st Gen. What I'd like to see is higher ppi, unbreakable backs, easily switchable wristbands/bracelets, and a few more sensors, radios and such: NFC, GPS, Wifi, temperature, altitude, for example.

Until there is some new battery technology (atleast 2016 to 2018) smart watches will not be the main stream. But I am looking forward to the Moto 360 v2.

The 1st gen was a tester and it worked the consumer loves it, so the 2nd will be mass produced and available in all countrys and sell like hot cakes.

Won't buy anything with a TI OMAP processor inside after the problems TI caused with the Galaxy Nexus. Also the black bar at the bottom really does detract from what is a gorgeous product. If version 2.0 doesn't have these negatives I will most likely buy.

Never release prototypes. Do like Apple and develope for 3 years, then release.
