Glif tripod mount for the iPhone doubles as a kickstand

Have you ever wanted to start your own business making mobile accessories? Well here's a bit of motivation for you. Two New Yorkers built a concept for a hybrid tripod mount and kickstand, marketed it using social media, and built up the capital to start a legitimate accessory business.

Their first product, the Glif, is a remarkably versatile mount for the iPhone 4. It attaches to any standard tripod with its 1/4-inch 20-thread adapter. From there, the iPhone can be positioned in portrait or landscape mode.

When you want a kickstand, the Glif can also hold your device securely in portrait or landscape mode. It is made out of a rubberized plastic that won't scratch your beloved phone. It is also small and light enough that you can easily carry it in your pocket.

So what's the bad news? As of now, the Glif only works with the iPhone 4, and it isn't compatible with cases. They say the Glif will still work with skinned iPhones (Zagg, etc.), but it might be a squeeze. It costs $20, and they are doing there best to have it ship in time for the Holidays (no promises).
