Check out the Alcatel OneTouch X1, an Android handset that will not see the light of day
The Alcatel OneTouch X1 is a lightweight, affordable handset with a Wolfson sound card and a thin footprint. The company priced the device at the equivalent of $216 USD. And on the back of the phone is a 3D panel with a shimmering "X," the kind that you can stare at and get hypnotized for hours. The One Touch X1 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 720 x 1280 resolution. The Snapdragon 410 SoC is under the hood with an octa-core CPU, and the Adreno 405 GPU.

The remaining specs include 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of expandable native storage. The 13MP rear-facing camera features an aperture of f/2.2, while the front-facing selfie snapper is a 5MP camera sporting an f/2.0 aperture. A removable 2150mAh battery provides the power for the phone, which has Android 5.1.1 pre-installed. Just 6.9mm thin, the OneTouch X1 weighs 140 grams. There is a physical home button under the screen, although there is no fingerprint scanner embedded in it.

Before we go any further, we need to tell you something very important about this phone. The Alcatel OneTouch X1 has been canceled, at least for the time being. The manufacturer didn't explain the reasons behind its decision, but Alcatel obviously was pretty close to releasing the device before changing its mind.

Speaking of Alcatel changing its mind, there always is the chance that the company will reverse field again and put the OneTouch X1 on the shelf. Until that day, all we have to remind us about it is a series of pictures that you can view by clicking on the slideshow below.
