Acer announces new Leap Ware smartwatch that doubles as fitness band

Acer is no stranger to wearables market having launched smartwatches and fitness bands before. Today, the company announced another smartwatch that doubles as a fitness band for those who use this type of products.

The new smartwatch is called Leap Ware, and it should be available in North America in July with prices starting at $139. Also, the smartwatch will be launched in EMEA in Q3 for €139, whereas customers in Taiwan will be able to grab it in August for NT$4,990.

According to Acer, the Leap Ware is equipped with a MediaTek MT2523 chipset and MT5211 bio-sensing chip. There's no mention of the amount of memory, but we do know the smartwatch features a 1.6-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+ coating.

The Leap Ware features IPX7 certification, which makes it water resistant. It also includes a built-in LED light which illuminates at the press of a button. The bands of the smartwatch are interchangeable and come in Navy Blue or Light Brown.

Acer's smartwatch is packed with an array of fitness-tracking sensors that work with the company's Liquid Life app. The wearable can monitor heart rate, stamina, stress levels, as well as other vital stats.

Unlike many other smartwatches available on the market, the Lear Ware promises between three to five days of battery life. It's also worth mentioning the smartwatch can be paired with either Android or iOS smartphones via the Liquid Life app.
