I have had quite a few phones over the last few years and this is by far the best. The battery life is unrivaled. I only charge it once a week at the most and I leave it on all the time. If you want a simple, reliable good phone this is the one. Great signal range, solid construction. Highly recommended.
This is by far the best Motorola phone I have ever had. It outdoes all the RAZR models in quality except for the CSTN display and no camera. These are not absolute necessities. Carry around a digital camera for crying out load if you are really into pictures. Besides the display not being TFT(faster) and being CSTN(Color super-twist nematic), it still performs wonderfully with bright colors and decent resolution. The 1000 milliamp battery gives the phone a phenomenal battery life. The fonts are quite large and clear. No true issues with this phone. The speakerphone is decent but not robust.
The battery life on this thing is insane... my old razor had a 710mAh battery.. new w490 motos top out at 880mAh.. this beast has a 1100mAh. In addition, there are many battery saving options that give you up to 20 days of standby time. How many phones can you leave on for over half a month? Plus I like to use handsfree bluetooth headsets, which almost doubles the power drain... I like to be able to actually use the bluetooth function without having to constantly leave my phone "plugged in".
Quad band, bluetooth, great reception, and clear sounds. Size is just right, very light.
I don't browse the internet on my phone... how hard is it to find a PC these days? This phone has MP3 capability, I download MP3s straight from the PC for free ringtones. Pictures I took with my old camera phones were only good for "picture tags" for when people call. I can do the same thing with this phone by downloading pics from the PC... wallpapers all the same.
Only downsides:
Speaker phone is distorted at times when talking on the line.
Resolution is low.
Other than the above, this really is the best functional "phone" I've ever had. I talk on the phone a lot, and love not ever having to "oh crap my phone is dying, let me plug it in" mid conversation. It's time to throw away that car charger, won't ever need it again.
The Motorola V195 is elegant in its simplicity. With none of the bells and whistles of many of today's newer phones but still provides some of the best communication features around with SMS, MMS, Voice Messaging, IM, Speakerphone and Bluetooth capabilities you can keep plugged in anywhere you go. Without a built in camera work environments where privacy and confidentiality is required this phone should be well accepted in. The battery life claims may be excessively optimistic but with daily use the phone needs not be charged but once every two days. A well-rounded communication tool and nothing more this phone was made with the simple man in thought.
It's great to see a basic phone that actually has bluetooth. It has some other decent features too like quadband, speakerphone, and mp3 ringtones. A great deal for $40!
When oh when will this thing be released. All i can be at the moment is elated that someone is creating a phone to be a phone. For anyone not looking for a camera or ipod which happens to ring occasionally, or prefers the higher quality of seperate machines, then this seems the best choice. The battery life claims will be tested when it's released. I am skeptical, but it will surely be longer than most other phones. Especially without extraneous functions draining it.
Given that anyone seriously looking into this phone does not want a camera or MP3 player or mini computer as part of their phone, are there good alternatives? Does anyone know more than a "second quarter" release date? It seems like this phone is already late depending on whose quarters you use.
