Do not waste your money on this phone, myself, husband, and daughter all have this phone, common issue on all three~~ turns on and off by it self, screen blanks out, or flashes, front display works when it wants to..Does NOT hold a charge, will say battery and show fully charged, open it and it's flashing low battery. My husband's now you can NOT hear it ring at all, volume is on high but it is silent, never dropped it...Worse phone ever it's not just one phone its all 3 and all the same issues so it's kyocera...
From software issues to hardware issues this is the worst phone I have ever had. Re-set becomes standard, and having no ringer sucks.
I have had this phone over a year now and its driving my crazy, yes I have dropped it but it does stand up to that it shows little to no damage from me doing it so many times. The only problem I have with it powercycling on its own I put it down on the table and it will turn off and on so battery will not hold. One time it started dialing a number when I was on the web and yes that does drain the battery. Other than that it has held up pretty good.
i used to have alltel, and the service is FANTASTIC! i only switched becuz my mom got a job with verizon so now obviously, i have verizon. the phone looks awesome, when you turn it on however, the screen is kinda washed out. and just like all kyoceras, the battery is HORRIBLE. i fyou use your phone, it'll be dead within a few hours..believe me, it suckd for me because i had 2 kyocera phones....EWW. but anyway, the call sound is awesome. but even though i the battery was the worst ever, and i used the phone a lot, id love to get this phone back.
I've had 3 of these and they have all died from manufacture defects. I dropped the first one I had, and the battery pack flew off and never re-attatched and the speaker fell out so it's permanently on silent. The battery life is attrocious, the slightest moisture causes it to freeze just by turning it on (and I mean indefinitely). I had it in my pocket while I was trying to put air in my tire one rainy day, and it never worked right again. The camera picture quality is humiliating. And in summation, poor signal, poor reception to Axcess (Alltel), it's made ENTIRELY of cheap plastic (the battery being the heaviest component) and the doodler doesn't even doodle. Boo kyocera...
I have had this phone for almost a year now. I really like its features. I have had slider phones,, blue tooth capeable. I have had the same problems that other people have had with it. I realized though that it cannot move as fast as my fingers to when it decides to freeze up like when I am doing a redial many many times in a row,, I wish the speaker phone worked with the phone closed this way I can hang it around my neck while driving.
I have been thinking about getting a new one upgrade my phone. but the only thing I am worried about not finding my favorite feature that is the flashlight. I really like this phone.. now I listed my grades as 9s only because I know there is something out there better I am just satisfied with what I have ...
I've had this phone since June 2006 when I thought I was getting a good deal from trading out my other raggedy phone. Every since I've had this phone the battery will die and it refuses to charge even when it's on the charger. I am just hoping it will just quit working so that I can buy a new one. Especially since this is like my second one and my cell phone company is going to get tired of seeing me bring this raggedy mess back to the store. I honestly hate this phone and wouldn't advice anyone in their right mind to waste their money like that because you end up wasting your precious time also.
Just to let yall know, if you're looking for information on this phone's contact info, it is a little iffy. I have this phone, and my user guide says it holds on average "about" 200 numbers. I have 269 numbers stored in it so far. So I am going to assume that it really holds 500. Which is exactly what I wanted. And also there is no info on the phone itself as far as contacts. So unless you manually count it, you don't know how many contacts you have, or how many you may have left. Other than that I like my phone.
it works great at first. they battery stays alive for a long time except it freezes for about a week then it doesn't do it again and eventually the battery only stays alive for about 5 minutes so its an okay short term phone
i dont know what the problem is. i dont own this phone yet but i know a lot of people that do and i use their phone all the time. there is nothing wrong with the phone..yeh, the battery isnt that great but oh well. get over it. a cell phone isnt meant for you to be on it for hours at a time. thats why the battery isnt good. come on people. get some sence! its really a good phone. im tired of people putting this phone down saying it "sucks" because of the calls being dropped. its not the phones fault that calls dropped, its the service providers fault. anyway. im getting this phone from Cricket next month when i get the money to pay for it. but honestly, i do recommend this phone.
this phone is ok accept the battery. the battery wont stay charged. the screen goes black on you. it cuts in the middle of conversation and the phone is not dead. this is my 3rd of the same kind. it's hard to change the case. the camera is blurry. but great texzt messenger and great speaker phone. poor battery
Cons
the camera is very bad. it has horrible graphics and it takes the picture after the flash.
the moving pics like screensavers and animations are good at first but then they get really slow after a while.
it also freezes a lot. ive owned it for about 5 months and have taken out the battery to restart it about 15 times now. i know many other phones of this kind that do it too.
i have to charge the battery every night.
Pros
It stores up to 115 pictures and has great speakerphones. I've never dropped a call. Everything else besides the stuff up there is fine.
Phone isn't bad for the money. Good reception, Battery isn't too bad, Texting is terrible it stutters with the the words won't, will, you. It will drive you crazy if you do alot of texting. Have complained to Kyocera they say it's a software problem. I have known of 6 phones with the same issue.
For an entry level phone, I can't really complain.
The Good
Signal strength has been excellent and my house is a 'dead zone' where 85% of phones can't connect. Perhaps I got a lucky phone. *shrug* I haven't dropped a call from my end yet. The built-in features do what you need.
The Bad
Battery life is barely acceptable but I've had MUCH worse. (Car charger or Extended Battery is almost a requirement). I also seem to have a technical issue of the phone shutting down when sending Pic msg, but that may not be a 'phone issue' and it hasn't been a big priority of mine to figure out so I can't blame the phone (yet).
The Ugly
The side button for the phone forces you to take snapshots of everything and then wish you had a much better camera.
I bought this phone about a month ago. My network provider is excellent--no comlaints here. But the battery sucks beyone all reason! It will only allow me to have one phone call for up to 2 1/2 hours before it starts bitching about a low battery. After talking for about 20 minutes, the phone gets hot to the touch.
I'm not sure about buying another Kyocera product ever again, considering my last phone (A Nokia)would go up to 7 days without having to be charged, reguardless of my length of phone calls.
This is the biggest piece of crap phone I've ever used. It drops calls every three minutes, the reception is so poor, if it isn't dropping my calls, I can't hear the person I'm talking to or they cannot hear me. A damn NIGHTMARE to try to carry on a conversation!! Do not walk, RUN from this crappy phone!!!!
The camera feature is the only thing going for this phone and it isnt even that good. Pay the money to get a motorola or nokia. Very Very Very poor battery life.
I have 2 of these phones and both batteries will no longer consistently take a charge. I've only had them a few months and first it was the one phone and now the other. I'm going to take the phones to my wireless provider and hope that the manufacturer's warrantly will replace the batteries. A service rep told me they may not because I have been charging them overnight and am not supposed to do that. This heats up the battery which destroys cells until there are no longer enough to charge.
The signal strength is poor to say the least. Its hard to use one handed. The battery doesn't last long at all. I would never have another one of these phones
This is the worst cell phone I have ever had. The phone gets hot after five minutes, literally hot to the touch. I mean REALLY hot.Furthermore,I have to stand out in the yard for the reception to be even remotely acceptable. It drops calls, and sometimes does not list missed calls that have been made to my number. The ringer does not go up enough in volume to be heard in a store. I am very dissatisfied with this product!
I LOVE MY KYOCERA KX16.COMPARED TO MY OLD RAZOR PHONE I LIKE THE KYOCERA KX16.BETTER PRICE BETTER QUALITY.IT'S MY PICK ALL AROUND.LANA FREEMAN ironton,Ohio
my best friend has this phone and she is constantly complaining about it... it does not have good signal strength, the battery doesn't last long and if you download real ringtones they have poor quality. I guess it is alright if you don't use it much and if you don't have the extras. also it can be difficult to open with one hand if you don't have long nails to open it..eehhh...
This guy above me dosen't know about phones very much because all flip phones have a button saying its closed or not and this phone has a lot of things other phone don't so don't listen to him, this phone is AWESOME!
This is an alright phone, i've had better. If you just use your phone for talking, and you want a camera, then this phone is perfect for you. A downside to the design of the phone is that there is a button that tells the phone if it is closed or not, Which is lame. The VOice DIal on this Phone Works Great. The camera is decent, but i've seen better.
