Vivo continues to step up its mid-range game with the breathtaking V80
The new Vivo V80 is one of the prettiest Android mid-rangers out there, and it somehow squeezes a hefty battery into a razor-thin body as well.

Vivo might just be the most underrated major smartphone vendor out there, making the global top five list yet again in Q3 2026 with its very diverse and robust product portfolio despite rarely getting as much media attention for its new releases as Samsung and Apple or even the likes of Xiaomi and Huawei.
But the Vivo V80 will not go unnoticed, building on the legacy of an already impressive (and not very costly) V70 unveiled a mere eight months ago with just the right amount of key upgrades in key departments to mount a serious challenge for the title of best budget 5G phone in the world this holiday season.
These are all the Vivo V80 specs you should care about
- 6.59-inch AMOLED screen with 2750 x 1260 pixel resolution, 144Hz refresh rate technology, and up to 5000 nits of brightness;
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor;
- 8GB RAM;
- 128, 256, and 512GB storage variants;
- Android 17 with OriginOS 7;

- 50MP secondary Zeiss telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom;
- 8MP Zeiss ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture;
- 50MP Zeiss front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture;
- 7,200mAh battery;
- 90W charging capabilities;
- Dual stereo speakers;
- 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner;

Anything groundbreaking there?
Not exactly, but you don't really need to reinvent the wheel in this modern era of annoyingly repetitive and increasingly expensive smartphones to have a pretty much guaranteed commercial (and critical) hit on your hands.

The design is not innovative in any way, but it's still undeniably attractive. | Image by Vivo
A well-rounded device with a respectable processor, hefty battery, versatile camera system, and ultra-high-quality screen will do for a lot of Android fans around the world who can't afford the likes of Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra or Google's Pixel 11 Pro, and if you add a razor-thin profile, premium build quality, and some gorgeous colors to the equation, you're all set to strike gold at the box-office.
The Vivo V80 certainly checks all of those boxes (and a couple more), shining primarily in the display quality department with a silky smooth and almost shockingly bright AMOLED, as well as on the imaging performance front with four state-of-the-art cameras co-engineered by industry veteran Zeiss.

Because it's 2026, a lot of Vivo's marketing around the V80 is focused on proprietary AI tools designed to enhance the overall abilities and versatility of said cameras, as well as the handset's productivity and speed, and although I generally tend to ignore this part of a new phone's promotion nowadays, I must admit the AI Best Face, AI Creative Camera, AI Retouch, AI Erase, AI Magic Move, Snap Note, and AI Recorder features present here sound pretty intriguing.
What's the key selling point and the number one flaw?
Without actually reviewing the Vivo V80 yet, I obviously can't answer that question with absolute certainty as far as the real-world user experience is concerned.

At first glance, however, I believe the best thing about this new Android mid-ranger is the "one-piece cold-carved" glass design enhanced by four undeniably beautiful paint jobs, of which the shiny Starwish Purple hue is without a doubt my personal favorite and one of the prettiest colorways I've seen on a mobile device in a long time.
At the other end of the spectrum, I can't say I'm too impressed by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, which is the exact same one found inside not just the Vivo V70 but last year's Vivo V60 as well. Unfortunately, those are the kinds of compromises that must be made these days to keep pricing in check.
Where is the Vivo V80 being released?
According to its makers, the handset "will gradually" be available in India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and "other regions." Those "other" regions, in case you're wondering, are essentially guaranteed to not include the US, but for what it's worth, they're likely to include a bunch of major European markets.
Curiously enough, the Vivo V80 is actually already up for grabs in India starting at the rough equivalent of $660. That's a pretty reasonable price point in this day and age for such a gorgeous phone with stellar battery life and exceptional cameras in tow, very interestingly matching what Samsung's Galaxy A57 5G costs in the same market right now. And yes, something like the Pixel 10a is cheaper, but also nowhere near as eye-catching or as overall impressively equipped.
