Next month, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Possibly the last Flip model that Samsung will ever make, the Flip 8 will reportedly be returning to a dual-processor split depending on the region that you buy it in.
No more Exynos exclusivity

Last year, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 launched with only the Exynos 2500 processor in every region. This was despite the fact that previously, on many occasions, Samsung has shipped some of its phones with Snapdragon processors in certain markets.
One more thing: at least the Chinese and U.S. versions of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 have returned to the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform, rather than continuing with the Exynos 2600. https://t.co/hHnczTMMxD
The company is allegedly returning to that format even though it could have very easily used the Exynos 2600, which powered the Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus.
Does Snapdragon make you more likely to get a Galaxy Z Flip 8?
Samsung’s last Flip model
Multiple reports from the past month have indicated that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might be the last Flip model that Samsung will ever make. This is apparently because the company doesn’t see many newer ways to improve upon the design anymore.

Sources with ties to the supply chain allege that, unlike every year prior, no plans have come in from Samsung for the Galaxy Z Flip 9 as the Flip 8 nears launch. Unless something unexpected is happening, it does seem like the Flip series is being discontinued.
Snapdragon for Galaxy Z Flip 8

The certain regions where the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will launch aren’t all confirmed just yet, though China and the U.S. seem to be included according to the leak. These models will most likey feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
There is certainly the possibility that every region could get the Snapdragon version of the Flip 8. If that does happen, then the last Flip model will go out with a big hurrah, as many customers still find the Exynos models lacking.
Why? What happened, Samsung?

The Exynos 2600 is one of the best processors that Samsung has ever made. It beat Snapdragon in the race to become the world’s first 2 nm mobile processor, and it also performed remarkably.
I thought that Samsung would now stick with Exynos for the long-term unless something went very wrong and the company’s in-house chips suddenly fell very far behind. Samsung’s decision to use Snapdragon shows that it doesn’t have faith in its own chip to deliver the experience that customers expect in 2026.
I’ve always been a proponent of Exynos, so I hope that Samsung is able to design and use even better processors soon. As for the Flip 8, I don’t see why it needs to be discontinued.
Even if the design has been perfected, new customers emerge every year who are looking for a phone just like this one.
