Samsung already sends out some Galaxy Ring notifications to the smartphone it’s connected to, including information about the battery and connectivity status. Soon, those notifications may become smarter and significantly more useful.
Galaxy Ring may send out new types of notifications
Samsung is working on improving some notifications the Galaxy Ring sends to smartphones, according to Galaxy Ring Manager app code unearthed by Android Authority. One improvement is to the notification sent out when the Galaxy Ring disconnects from a smartphone. That one may start including information about the Ring’s battery level at the time the connection was lost.
That could let users know whether they forgot the accessory or its battery has been drained. The device may also specifically nudge users to charge the Galaxy Ring “regularly before the battery drains” and not let its battery drain to “keep your ring healthy.”
Another type of notification may alert users how long their ring has been disconnected from the smartphone. That could serve as a reminder of a dead battery or a forgotten ring.

The clues for those new notifications were found in the latest version of the Galaxy Ring Manager app, but the feature is still in development. As usual with such things, there’s no strict timeline for when they may go live for users, though that could happen soon.

Whenever released, it would be a quality-of-life update to the alerts that the Galaxy Ring currently sends. The ring sends out a signal once its battery goes down to 15 percent and sends a simple notification once it loses connection with the phone.
Other smart rings don’t have similar notifications. The Oura Ring doesn’t notify its users when it disconnects from the smartphone, and it only has a connection status inside the app.
Helpful features
While that’s not the most impressive feature I’ve ever heard of, I think this type of alert helps make the Galaxy Ring feel much better. After all, it’s the small details that make for a better user experience.
