Samsung messes up again, tweeting about the Galaxy A9 from an iPhone
It’s one thing when a celebrity is caught using a phone from a different company than the one actually paying their bills or when a US presidential candidate calls for an Apple boycott while regularly tweeting from an iPhone, but another thing entirely to see a mobile device vendor inadvertently endorsing the competition.

As much as Samsung loves to mock Apple for its often pompous advertising campaigns, the basic blunders of its own social media managers are getting substantially more embarrassing.

Once again, prominent YouTuber Marques Brownlee of MKBHD fame has busted one of the company’s regional branches for using the iPhone Twitter app to promote the “majestic” ultra wide camera of the Galaxy A9.

Because the automatic “via Twitter for iPhone” stamp cannot be removed once a tweet has been posted, Samsung Mobile India unsurprisingly decided to delete the promotional message altogether in a belated and, frankly, useless damage control operation.

A screenshot of the December 12 blooper lives on thanks to Reddit and Brownlee, joining similar recent gaffes by the official Samsung Saudi and Samsung Mobile Nigeria Twitter accounts in the company’s advertising hall of shame.

This particular goof is made that much more embarrassing (and weirder) by Apple’s microscopic share in India’s smartphone market, where Samsung is ranked second, behind Xiaomi only, selling millions more units than its arch-rival quarter after quarter. At the same time, we have to point out the quad-camera Galaxy A9 (2018) is a shockingly bad device, so you can probably understand why a different phone was used to tweet this unconvincing (and since-removed) endorsement.

Interesting that you never see an iPhone ad posted using an Android phone.

Clickbait, Why not state in the title that this isn't Samsung USA, But rather Samsung India, The division who has done this multiple times before.

I really don't see the relevance of your statement...

Yeah, and? Look, on a basic level you would expect Samsung India, Samsung IDontcarewhatcountry to use Samsung devices. I can cut Gal Gadot some slack for making a mistake like this when tweeting about Huawei. This is quite different. As others note Apple's reps and spokepersons do not make this mistake.

I don't know why everyone makes a big deal about such things. It's everyone's personal choice to have whatever phone they want and being employee of a certain company doesn't translate to using its its products no matter what! Probably some people at Apple also use Android phones. People need to understand working for a brand doesn't mean your own opinions and choices would suddenly change....

But....its promotion for the company !! As somebody rightly pointed out before, no one in Apple uses Android to post Apple ads. For promos , folks have to be careful. Personal life , no worries.

Steve Jobs hatred of android was legendary. If he was still alive and running things and caught an Apple employee using an android device, he probably would not only terminate them, he would probably sue them for breaking some condition of employment agreement.

Yeah that is true, and from his point of view valid too...Eric Schimdt was both on Google's and Apple's board and Steve definitely thought that Android took a lot of design cues from Apple in the beginning, because of him. Even I agree, Android was initially designed for keyboard before the iPhone OG.

People at Apple who use Android devices get drawn & quartered, beheaded, ran over, & stepped on.

Once again, it's the Digital/PR Agency that does this work through Samsung's accounts. People who work at the agency are not obliged to use Samsungs as they are not paid to.

Are you really as stupid as what you wrote would suggest? Clearly there is a major problem with extolling the virtues of a Samsung phone, while tweeting about it from an iPhone. If there wasn't, Samsung wouldn't have deleted the tweet(s).

i totally understand but they represent samsung. and over the passed couple of months there has been many such incidents and it is getting out of hand. This is embarrassing for any company be it samsung or any other

This has been happening for years. Athletes, models, actors who were PAID to carry and promote these devices still prefer to use their iPhones. Basically saying that “you can’t even pay me to use a Samsung device”

Is this Samsung Mobile India account verified like all of the others? The checks are supposed to be blue, not grey. Nor have I seen the check appear on the picture of an account. How is MKBHD viewing this tweet?? My laptop and phone app view tweets differently

Fenix Android twitter client has this feature. Also if you use a safari mobile and go to twitter click on the tweet, it shows you the OS a a tweet is coming from.

also the gray check mark is because of the Fenix App as well

This is hysterical, the incoming damage control by the unpaid Samsung worshippers will be fun to read.

And you ifans do the same. Oh no wait, i forgot when something is posted negative about apple you all run and hide. It is only natural to stick up for something you like , rather its a phone brand, car brand or any other brand of something.
