After launching the spectacular OnePlus 15 last year, OnePlus is all set to unveil its successor, the OnePlus 16, sometime this year. While we still don't know the exact release date, many specifications of the device have surfaced online over the last few months. The latest leak comes from Digital Chat Station, and it talks about the bezels of the upcoming OnePlus flagship.
The OnePlus 15 that was released last year features significantly slimmer bezels than the OnePlus 13. The official website states that the bezels have been reduced by 42%, allowing the device to achieve a 95.5% screen-to-body ratio. The figures are expected to become even more impressive with the upcoming OnePlus 16.
One of the most reputable tipsters, Digital Chat Station, recently made a post on Weibo claiming that the OnePlus 16 would feature one of the thinnest bezel designs in the brand's flagship range. The bezel size on the OnePlus 15 is 1.15 mm on all four sides, and even thinner bezels mean there might be a possibility that we could see bezels measuring under 1 mm on the OnePlus 16. That's my assumption, as DCS hasn't given any exact measurements.
The tipster mentions that the custom-designed screen of the phone would deliver a crystal-clear viewing experience. By "custom-designed screen," DCS might be referring to the new generation of Oriental screen that OnePlus is believed to use for its upcoming flagship. The main advantage of this is that it will allow the device to offer the rumored 165 Hz refresh rate across all apps, not just in certain games.
OnePlus isn't the only brand that is reportedly trying to give its phone screen a more edge-to-edge appearance. Early rumors indicate that Apple is also planning to offer an almost bezel-less design for the iPhone 20. I wouldn't say that either of these two brands is trying to copy the other or that the designs of the upcoming phones will be very identical, but it does indicate that manufacturers are now apparently serious about completely eliminating the bezels from their phones.
TECNO has already showcased a smartphone with almost 0 mm bezels, and now, other major smartphone brands appear to be working towards the same goal. Well, looking at the thick bezels of the Pixel 11 series, Google's priority certainly doesn't appear to be reducing the size of the bezels that surround its phone's display.
In addition to information related to the display, many other details of the OnePlus 16 have also surfaced online. A reliable tipster, Abhishek Yadav, recently made a post on X containing a summary of all the rumored specifications of the upcoming OnePlus phone. According to it, the device is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and come with LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage.
There could be a triple-camera setup at the back, with the main shooter being 200 MP. Both the ultra-wide and periscope lenses are reported to be 50 MP. In the front, the phone could come with a 32 MP selfie camera.
OnePlus is most likely to continue its tradition of impressing with the battery numbers, as the smartphone is rumored to have a massive 9000 mAh battery. It could support 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging.
OnePlus has officially announced that it has discontinued its services in North America and Europe. This means that if you live in any of these regions, you might not be able to get your hands on the OnePlus 16, though it might still be possible to import it from countries where the device will launch. In fact, many OnePlus fans have mentioned in related Reddit posts that they might consider importing the device from China.

That said, I live in India, where the phone is most likely to launch. If all the rumored specs turn out to be true, I'll consider replacing my Pixel 10 with it.
