While we're still waiting for the official release of the iPhone 18 lineup, a few early leaks of the iPhone 20, which is expected to be unveiled next year, have already surfaced online. The surfaced leaks suggest that the upcoming iPhone could feature a bezel-free display. We will surely have to wait until next year to find out whether Apple can actually produce a completely bezel-less phone; however, an Android smartphone brand has already created a phone with 0 mm bezels.

A true bezel-less phone from TECNO

First up, in case you haven't heard of TECNO before, it's an Android smartphone brand whose devices are officially sold in Africa, Asia, and parts of Europe. The company recently released a video on its YouTube channel teasing its first-ever bezel-less concept phone. In the 21-second video, no details about the device were shared other than showcasing it from different angles.

More details are available now, as MKBHD has released a hands-on video of this phone. The device reportedly has a 144Hz, 6.7-inch flat display, and there aren't any visible bezels at all. On the back, you get a triple-camera setup, and the camera module looks very similar to what you get in the Galaxy S26.

There's also a 3D butterfly design embedded on the back, and Marques notes in his video that it's one of the best things he liked about the device. On the front, you have a punch-hole selfie camera.

How is TECNO able to design a 0 mm bezel phone?

TECNO was reportedly able to design a completely bezel-less phone by using something called "internal display stacking." MKBHD mentions in his video that the frame is placed slightly above the screen, which eventually helped the brand hide the display border of the phone and create the illusion of a truly bezel-less display.

Because of the raised frame, its edge can easily be felt during normal usage, such as when swiping from top to bottom to open the notification center, according to Marques. He also mentioned that a small bezel can be noticed if the phone is tilted at a sharp angle.

Apple is also reportedly preparing a bezel-less iPhone

A few renders of Apple's 20th-anniversary iPhone, the iPhone 20, have surfaced online, and they suggest that the device will have a bezel-less screen. A reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, has recently explained how the bezel-free iPhone will work. According to them, the device will have a flat screen with a glass cover on top, which, through optical refraction, will create the visual borderless effect.

It's worth noting that these are very early leaks, so I would highly advise taking them with a pinch of salt. Interestingly, it was just weeks ago when reports emerged that the all-glass 20th-anniversary iPhone had been cancelled due to low yield rates. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman refuted those reports by stating that the device is still on track for 2027.

The iPhone 20 may or may not deliver a bezel-less design, but TECNO has already showcased what a 0 mm bezel phone actually looks like.

TECNO needs to answer an important question

While the TECNO bezel-less phone looks absolutely stunning, the brand really needs to address one important concern. You see, the bezels on any smartphone ensure that the phone case can easily sit around the display without covering the actual screen. But that doesn't appear to be the case with TECNO's device, as the raised frame I mentioned above apparently leaves almost no room to protect the edges without covering part of the display.

I am hopeful that the brand must have thought about this and will likely share more details when it officially showcases the device at IFA 2026.
