Nothing's Phone (4b) design sketch, shared to confirm the July 7 launch. | Image by Nothing
Following a series of online teases, Nothing has confirmed that the Phone (4b) is real, with a launch set for July 7 at 11:00 BST. The teaser is a hand-drawn sketch that reads like a pared-back Phone (4a) Pro, dropping it into budget territory against the Pixel 10a and Galaxy A Series.

The confirmation came from Nothing on X, where the company shared the sketch and joked it kept drawing the Phone (4a) series and accidentally made a new phone. The launch is set for July 7 at 11:00 BST.

It caps a run of sketch-themed teasers, a pencilling video and a more detailed one on Flipkart in India, though no specs are confirmed yet.
What would make the Phone (4b) worth it for you?
The sketch borrows heavily from the 4a series
The family resemblance is hard to miss, since the back centers on an oval camera island in the corner, the same design language as the Phone (4a), with two large circular lenses in the render.

The drawing pencils in real numbers too, a camera bump near 2.15 mm and lens rings marked 2.5 mm and 3 mm, next to a Flipkart to-do list. However, we should remember that this is meant to be a working file, not a finished reveal.

Against the Phone (4a) Pro, which packs a triple camera plus 140x zoom and a Glyph Matrix, the (4b) sketch shows a simpler build meant to sit below the 4a, likely on a modest Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 if the leak holds.
We covered earlier why this reads as the canceled CMF phone reborn under the Nothing badge after a memory-price crunch, almost certainly pricier than a CMF would have been. On Reddit, the r/NothingTech crowd has come to the same read.
r/NothingTech is already calling the Phone (4b) a rebadged CMF at a higher price. | Image by DilSeOP via Reddit
Their verdict is a rebadged CMF at a markup, and while that is anecdotal, the suspicion is loud and consistent.
Who the Phone (4b) is really for
This is for people who want the Nothing look without Phone (4a) money, the same buyers who would have grabbed a CMF. The teasers have leaned on Nothing India and Flipkart, so a US release is not guaranteed, and the Phone (3a) Lite it replaces started near Rs 20,999 (about $245 via direct conversion).
If you are eyeing a Pixel 10a or a Galaxy A series device, nothing here forces your hand yet. Price is the number that matters, and that waits until July 7.
Where I land on a budget 4a
I am writing this with a Phone (4a) Pro on my desk, and I have owned several Nothing and CMF phones, including the original CMF. So a 4a in budget clothing appeals to me, since the Nothing look has always done more for me than CMF's plainer one.
My one real worry is the price, because if the RAM-pocalypse pushes this too close to the 4a it is cribbing from, the whole point evaporates. Still, I am hoping Nothing keeps it honest, since a cheaper phone that still looks like a Nothing is precisely what I love to recommend.
