After kicking off its foldable lineup with clamshells in 2020, Motorola released its first book-style foldable, the Motorola Razr Fold, in April. Now, it's embracing the squat foldable trend. The short clip released earlier this month offered only a brief glimpse of what looked like a shrunk Razr Fold.
Apparently, the device is internally known as the 'razr flex' and codenamed 'Parker.'
It will be powered by Qualcomm's standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip and will come in a single configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It's expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery and might support 25W Qi2 charging.
It will carry dual IP48 and IP49 ratings, run Android 17 out of the box, and feature a dual 50MP camera setup.
Those specs sit firmly in the budget flagship territory, but no one buys a compact foldable for the spec sheet.

Leaked renders reveal a device that looks significantly more pocketable than either the iPhone Duo or the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The razr flex reportedly sports a 6.92-inch inner screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz and a 4.97-inch outer display. Both are smaller than those of Apple and Samsung's equivalents.

The device also has sleek dimensions, measuring 110 x 149 x 5.8mm unfolded and 110 x 76 x 12.6mm closed.
For comparison, the iPhone Duo clocks in at 117.8 x 164.6 x 5.2 mm unfolded and 117.8 x 84.1 x 11.3 mm closed. The Fold 8 measures 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.5 mm unfurled, and 123.9 x 81.9 x 9.7 mm closed.
That makes the razr flex shorter and narrower than the Duo and Fold 8, but it's thicker.
At 215 grams, it's lighter than the Duo (254 g) but heavier than the Fold 8 (201 g).
The device will reportedly be available in PANTONE Coriander and PANTONE Dark Botanical Garden. Motorola is hoping to formally announce it in mid-December.

The razr flex might not beat its closest rivals on every dimension, but the smaller footprint works in its favor. One-handed usability won't feel awkward, and the device will feel more like a compact book-style foldable than a tablet that can fold into an oddly shaped phone.
While the screen sizes and dimensions are likely accurate, the renders may have taken some creative liberties, particularly with the bezels, which are said to be uniform.
