It may have taken Motorola an inexplicably long time to unveil a book-style alternative to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold series, but according to a generally reliable publication (especially when it comes to this Lenovo-owned brand), the first-gen Razr Fold is likely to get a wide version a lot quicker than many of you probably expected.
This currently-unnamed device should go up against the likes of the ultra-popular Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the just-unveiled Xiaomi 18 Fold, as well as the long overdue and finally fast-approaching iPhone Ultra. Based on some leaked sketches that seem to envision the design of the first-of-a-kind Motorola foldable alongside the existing Razr Fold and a clamshell Razr, the company could throw its hat in the rapidly expanding wide foldable ring in style... although it's clearly far too early to draw definitive conclusions on the product's functionality and visual appeal.
Creaseless display, "easy-open profile", and ultra slim housing
While I'm generally reluctant to take these kinds of leaked product images very seriously, as they're often put together in the super-early development stages, there's something about the words and idioms accompanying the purported drawings of Motorola's first wide foldable that strongly suggests this is more than a theoretical concept or distant dream.

Both the company's designers and marketers seem to have put a lot of thought into how the device will look and even how it might be advertised once it's released, and the product's specs are likely (at least for the time being) to receive less attention than certain key build elements.
Like the Razr Fold, this mysterious upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 rival should be hyped up as "ultra slim" and equipped with a "creaseless display", while some novel marketing terms and key cosmetic selling points appear to include an "easy-open profile", 3D glass on the inside, a "diamond cut" frame, "polished/hairline brush", and a "metal decoration" on the back.

Naturally, a few of these bombastic labels are unlikely to prove as exciting in real-life use as they sound in theory, but I'm definitely intrigued about the product's profile, which is clearly envisioned to make the unfolding process easier for everyday users.
The rear camera island also looks... interesting
I'd probably say exciting instead of interesting if there were any actual camera hardware details to report. Unfortunately, that's not (yet) the case, so for the time being, it's certainly promising to see Motorola plan a horizontal camera bar here.

That's very similar to the Xiaomi 18 Fold approach in this particular department, but different from how the Razr Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 8 look, for instance. The advantage of this type of camera setup (at least in theory) is less wobble when the foldable is placed flat on a hard surface (like your typical desk or coffee table), especially if the imaging sensors are not very prominent (which fortunately also seems to be the case here).
On the not so bright side of things, it looks like the "Razr Fold Wide" (that's just a placeholder name I made up on the spot right now, mind you) could rock only two (large) rear-facing cameras, down from the three 50MP snappers on the back of the non-Wide Razr Fold. Then again, the non-Ultra Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes with two 50MP rear cams as well, and that doesn't seem to be negatively impacting its mass appeal much.

Will this product be released in the "coming months"?
The folks over at Android Headlines sure seem to think so after discussing the matter with an "anonymous source", although knowing Motorola, I would urge you not to get too excited just yet.

A possibility that definitely makes sense right now is seeing this device released as the solo sequel to the Razr Fold in early 2027 rather than in a Galaxy Z Fold 8/Z Fold 8 Ultra type of combination alongside a more "conventional" book-style foldable model.
But that's obviously just an assumption on my part based on all the market reports and predictions naming wide foldables the segment's future and what I presume hasn't been a very successful launch of the non-Wide Motorola Razr Fold.
