Motorola's Edge 70 line up is made up of models such as the Edge 70 Max, Edge 70 Pro, and Edge 70 Pro+. A Senior Moto Agent named Kevin recently posted on a Lenovo forum that it was seeking participants to test Android 17 on the Motorola Edge 70 Neo. You would have expected Edge 70 Neo owners to get excited over the prospects of receiving an update to the latest Android build, but there was not a peep from them.

Motorola has yet to officially unveil the Edge 70 Neo

Why weren't Motorola Edge 70 Neo owners excited about this? That's because Motorola has never officially unveiled such a phone. In other words, there is no such phone released by Motorola-at least not yet. Obviously, the forum post made by Senior Moto Agent Kevin was an accidental leak, or it was a mistake and no such model is coming.

All signs point to it being an honest-to-goodness genune leak. Tapping on the link in the forum post takes you to a website that hosts a form for those who want to join the beta testing for the Motorola Edge 70 Neo. Note that the phone listed on the form is the Motorola Edge 70 Neo, which suggests that the introduction of this phone is imminent.

The form says, "As a beta tester, you’ll be among the first to experience the software and can share your thoughts in a private community." It adds that you may also be asked by Motorola to write to the company about your experience using Android 17 on the Edge 70 Neo.

Not everyone who submits a form will be selected to be a beta tester. If you are selected by Motorola, you will receive an email once the program starts.

The Neo is usually the company's "compact" Edge model

Traditionally, the Neo model is the compact variant on the Edge series. The last two Edge Neo models, the Edge 60 Neo and the Edge 50 Neo, had 6.4-inch pOLED displays, and were powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 and Dimensity 7300 chipsets respectively. Both processors were produced by TSMC using its 4nm process node. The new Edge 70 Neo is likely to be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7500, also produced by TSMC using its 4nm process node.

Let's make something perfectly clear, Motorola's Edge Neo models are not officially released to the US. They are usually shipped to Europe, the UK, Asia and Latin America.

Past Motorola Edge Neo models, or the Edge 70 Neo if and when it is launched, can be imported into the States factory-unlocked through third-party sellers like Amazon, eBay, or Walmart Marketplace. Such imports will not have support from US carriers, warranty coverage, and these phones might lack key 5G/LTE network bands.

For example, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo is available from Amazon for $189. The phone comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Since the Edge 70 Neo won't be officially released in the US, Motorola decided to make the one Edge model it releases in the US this year a compact device. Unlike past Motorola Edge models in the States released in 2024 and 2025 with a 6.6-inch and 6.7-inch display respectively, the 2026 Motorola Edge features a 6.3-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2640 resolution.

In the US, Motorola has already released a compact Edge model for 2026

The Motorola Edge 2026 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7450 chip and it features 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. On the back is a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The front-facing camera for selfies and video chats weighs in at 50MP.

Priced at $599.99 unlocked, the Motorola Edge carries a 5,000mAh battery with 60W TurboPower wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

At this moment, Motorola has not officially introduced the Motorola Edge 70 Neo. Considering that last year's Edge 60 Neo was announced on September 5 and released on October 17, we could see the latest variant made official within a month.
