Samsung may launch a Qi2 power bank for the Galaxy S26
Samsung is developing an official wireless charging accessory for the Galaxy S26 series, which will support Qi2. That all but confirms that the upcoming flagships will be the first Samsung phones to fully support Qi2.
An upgrade for Samsung

If those rumors are true, and they most likely are, Samsung will join the exclusive club of companies that offer phones with full Qi2 support. Google’s Pixel 10 series and the HMD Skyline are the only Android devices to support the magnetic wireless charging technology on their own.
Several other devices require a magnetic case to use the technology. One of those is the Vertu Metavertu Curve, but the rest are all Samsung devices. The company calls those devices Qi2 Ready, and the list of devices includes the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 series and the following foldables:
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
- Galaxy Z Fold 7
- Galaxy Z Flip 7
- Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE
Apple pioneered the magnetic charging concept with its MagSafe technology, which was introduced with the iPhone 12 lineup in 2020. In 2023, the company “allowed” the MagSafe ring to become part of the Qi2 standard, making it available to the rest of the industry.
Overdue feature
I am glad that Samsung is finally adding proper Qi2 support to its flagship, because it was long overdue. Pairing this with an interesting accessory is the perfect way to demonstrate its advantages, and I hope that leads to even wider adoption and better accessories.
