While most of the specs of the Galaxy Tab S12 series have already been revealed, we haven’t seen indications of the real-life experience they may offer. That has now changed, as a benchmark of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra was seen in the Geekbench database.
Benchmark reveals the performance of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra
Samsung may have a surprising performance boost in store for its top-tier tablet. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra appeared on Geekbench 7 with an impressive performance, reaching 2,760 points in the single-core test and a 9,291-point multi-core score.

Alongside the results, the test, first spotted by tipster Abhishek Yadav, also confirmed the specs of the tablet with model number SM-X940. The test was run on the base MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, which comes with one core at 4.21GHz, three cores at 3.50GHz, and four cores at 2.70GHz. The tablet also has 12GB of RAM and was running Android 17 during the test.
A significant improvement over the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra

What’s surprising in this test is that it suggests the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will use the base Dimensity 9500 instead of a Plus variant. Last year’s Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra premiered with the Dimensity 9400 Plus, which had a single prime core at 3.73GHz.

Despite the move from a supposedly faster Plus chip to a standard version, the new model shows a significant performance improvement. A recent Geekbench 7 test of the Tab S11 Ultra shows 2,283 single-core and 8,093 multi-core scores. That translates to about a 20% improvement in the single-core performance and a 15% jump in multi-core tasks.
Which upgrade would you prefer to see on the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra?
Besides the chip, the two tablets also differ in the operating system, with last year’s model running on Android 16. While the software optimizations could help the Tab S12 Ultra run a little faster, its benchmark was still on a pre-release unit and software, which are often slower than the final versions.
In his in-depth review of the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, my colleague Peter was impressed by the intergenerational upgrades from the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The tablet performed significantly better in benchmarks and in real-life use, and the upcoming model may achieve the same.
When is the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra going to launch?
Samsung’s only official statement about the Galaxy Tab S12 series said their premiere will be in the second half of the year. However, rumor has it that they’ll launch in September, so we may have more official news very soon.
Earlier leaks revealed that the new models may come with practically the same design as their predecessors. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is expected to retain the 14.6-inch display, as well as the 11,600 mAh battery and the 45W charging.
A nice refresh after all
It would be easy to blame Samsung for introducing too few changes to its best tablets, but a decent performance jump may be good enough. After all, almost nobody upgrades their tablet very often, so the Tab S12 Ultra may end up offering exactly what it would be necessary.
